In the short term oil prices correlates with the market direction. Furthermore most companies have hedged their oil prices so that they pay a fixed price each Q/year, airline companies are paying 60$ for a barrel worth 20$ kek (good thing flights are cancelled huh).

>> No.18423086

>>18423005
They're not good for US domestic production which requires a significantly higher price to remain profitable. That means large amounts of domestic production has to shut down, layoffs for workers and support industries. They also have to cap wells, meaning they're going to throw 10 tons of cement down that shit and weld the stem, they have to redrill if they want to get back at it, which is a time consuming and otherwise costly affair.

Meanwhile, margins might remain similar, but overall profit dips. That means the emplaced infrastructure for moving, storing, refining, and etc becomes more expensive to operate, relatively, placing companies closer to red.

off course low oil prices are bad for oil producers. but for anything else it's good. oil goes into the production and transportation of almost everything. with low oil prices almost everything else becomes more profitable.
and oil prices don't correlate with supply and demand because opec exists. the supply side has always been superficially low.

Oil prices figure into the price of all commodities. If other countries can spit out dirt cheap oil, the commodities they make are cheaper as well. So in the US, where we can't make quite so dirt cheap oil, our commodities are comparatively more expensive with an ever shrinking margin of profitability. She never got a fair chance. If you remember back to the very first scene in the movie, she's out with her husband and he starts getting grabbed on by some random floozy on the street, then he makes his wife fight the broad. They never had a proper marriage to start with, and then he just sort of leaves her at home to watch a younger girl dancing.
I feel like that guy needed to be a better husband to sissy and then one of the bad stuff in the movie would have happened. Also she was very fetching and had ample chest resources. She only started to be a mess 20 minutes into the film.

Coal shipments are down, large decrease in demand due to maintenance while stockpiles were still up. Coal is BN's most profitable operations. Nat. Gas. is outperforming coal on price, and is shipped mostly through pipeline. I expect BN to cut sets shortly for the spring, coal production will drop off as well. UP has a smaller stake in it, but still moves it, likely similar impacts.

Intermodal is stalled in TX more or less from what I've heard, so likewise layoffs from RR there.

RR traffic is liable to continue to plummet, I wouldn't gamble on it right now, but I don't think people are going to go back to buying as much shit as they were prior. Might see a blip and recede into a trough once everyone has their backorders fulfilled.
