So I have a dell g5 with a 1060 max Q and it stutters during battles on doom with medium settings. Will a g7 with a 1660ti be enough to play with 0 stutter on ultra or should I spring for the rtx 2060?

i have RTX 2060 and could play Doom Eternal at 60 fps the whole game, never noticed any drops. using Ultra Nightmare on everything except textures which was Ultra because RTX 2060 only have 6 GB of VRAM. using 1440p (2560x1440)

i don't think you need to upgrade your CPU

if you mean Doom 2016 it also had no problems with RTX 2060

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1660-Ti-vs-Nvidia-RTX-2060/4037vs4034
^-- says RTX 2060 is only 14% better than GTX 1660-Ti

so you would probably do just fine with 1660ti, but i myself would spring for rtx 2060 because how often do you want to upgrade GPU?

Anon, he bought a prebuilt, and plans on buying another, he will be laughed out of /g/

listen here you fucking MORON
your shitsmeared "1060 max Q" is a MOBILE GPU
it's literal garbage, it's worth less than the materials its made of
no wonder it stutters
my fucking RX580 that was released BEFORE your abomination and was used to mine eth for years scores over 2x in benchmarks, I didn't try the new doom because I'm not a hopeless goomer who can't even build his own PC like you, but the 2016 doom runs like butter

if all you do is play video games all day you should know how to build your own PC instead of buying DELL prebuilts
pathetic

I think I got a bit angry

anyway, don't buy laptops with mobile GPUs, even if their model sounds similar to a decent desktop GPU model, it's not, it'll be severely gimped and outdated in a year. If you MUST be mobile, your money will be better spent buying a very good work laptop that can support a good external GPU (and obviously the external GPU kit and GPU itself)

actually not true, an expensive gaming laptop can last for years, especially now when games aren't really leaping that much in graphics every year.
it'll be hotter and more noisy than a non-laptop though, however that has also improved a lot in recent years.

>DURRR EXPENSIVE LAPTOPS WITH DESKTOP GPUS CAN LAST FOR YEARS

yes
yes they can, since they literally have desktop GPUs, and not mobile GPUs
they're also huge, barely mobile, and massively overpriced even for laptop standards

I didn't write a single falsehood, thought you could escape me in the archive? Think again.

what are you even arguing for. you said "don't buy laptops because they are outdated in a year" and i simply corrected you.

you don't need to get an external GPU to have a good gaming laptop, modern gaming laptops are very capable and will last for years.
