Good. Trump did a side deal with Mexico to get them on board to the effect that US will chip in 250k bps cut to Mexico's 100k bps cut to mostly satisfy OPEC's request of 400k bps cut from Mexico. Putin reportedly believes deal is done. Saudis haven't made a statement yet but there doesn't seem to be any reason for them to be dissatisfied with the US/Mexico deal. Well I am working on a strategy to go mostly into dividend paying blue-chip stocks with a few other perhaps not so sure things on the side, still dividend paying.
And then on the very side put into some stuff that I expect to grow..some right a way..some within a couple of months or years. All of the gains from the non-dividend stocks go into playing more of this game.

My idea is to snowball up. At the very least cover a few bills. In that way, that frees up the money per year I would spend on such things from my paycheck itself, which of course would give me more money to continue to grow this plan. From this, I would gain a passive income towards being truly independent of an employer.
It's also not all in on one dividend paying stock. It's diverse and getting more diversified. This makes investment lopsided in some ways now but as this snowball continues it will average itself out to something nicely.
To me, being beyond defeat is to be independent of an employer's paycheck to survive.
A version of UBI paid for by the companies I put direct investment into.

The point isn't to ever be undefeatable, you could get fucking struck by a meteor and lose your army in a freak accident. But you can't put all of your eggs in one basket, like Rome, when they fought Hannibal they were defeated at trasimene, cannae and trebia, but they had the man power to take the losses, undefeatable. Hannibal was the superior tactician but he couldn't get resupplied and although he handed the romans their biggest losses in hundreds of years he lost. You can never prevent failure, but you can mitigate its effects and be able to take it in stride. The application to the market is to be patient, mitigate losses and be flexible enough to hop on deals (victories) when they appear.

I'm looking to hold dividend producing stocks for years, perhaps decades, and growing the positions.
RTX shows these things.

playing for day, week, or even quarterly trading is for bull markets or things that may be cheap now, may get a buzz, and then you get out after it's earned you a few hundred maybe couple thousand dollars.

Not-meme reply since RTX has become such a shitpost magnet that this needs to be stated

RTX is definitely going to have a couple quarters of reduced profits, largely because of the civil sector. That's why the price is so low to begin with. And it was a much better buy at $50 when I started memeing it (although I still bought more at $64). Here's where I see upside:
>A lot of airlines, if they do survive, are left with fairly old fleets (especially Delta iirc)
>These will need replaced in upcoming years regardless
>The civil aviation division is at no risk of bankruptcy or even bailout because the military division has $70B in backorders it can complete to keep cashflows up
>on the exit from the corona crisis RTX will be the world's largest or second largest defense contractor, while also having a strong civil aviation arm
>all this can currently be had at a P/E below 10
That's why I think $100 RTX by EoY is possible, especially with good corona news; and $200 RTX is not unthinkable if it gets a valuation more in line with NOC or LMT

When a dividend gets that high it generally means the market doesn't think they'll be able to pay it, and sure enough they were right.

you uhhh actually do sound a little brain damaged here.

There is a valid reason to start building a position in RTX, and it's not because they pay a fucking dividend. The merger completed at a bad time for their non-defense business. They have much more cyclical and aerospace exposure, and we're at a point in the business cycle where those cyclical stocks will do very poorly. And the demand for commercial air travel will NEVER be the same, now that telecommuting has been forced on people so even the boomers are seeing the benefits.

Eventually, the business cycle will bottom, and RTX should preform well then.

Anything long-term for dividends i'm putting in over time. I still have a normal job. RTX will be part of the diversifying portion. I have a few things I got in cheap for experiments sake..if they blow up when we get out of this recession then all the better.
Another thing, like AMD, is just because I expect it to get high after this recession and people start buying up again..with the shit kicking they've been giving intel I expect for them to hit maybe up to $70 within the next year.

I'm watching some others too...strategy to put bonus cash from my job into experiments and a certain portion of my regular check into building the longer term positions. And of course dividends will be reinvested as well. No reason not to. Like I said before, i'm looking to try to cover a few basic bills and hopefully within a couple years time depending on how aggressive I get.
This current dip is making this all possible.

RTX will be added monday now that i've been made aware of it. I was going to stick to "things I know" in terms of tech sectors but I realized diversifying has to be about reaching to other sectors more than competing companies in the same sectors.

The famed investor's conglomerate disposed of almost 860,000 BNY Mellon shares for about $35 each, trimming its stake in the bank from roughly 10.4% to 9.8%. It likely wanted to reduce the added regulatory burden that comes with holding a stake of 10% or more.
Berkshire's remaining stake in the company is worth about $3.3 billion.

Possibly too quickly. Probably a shining example of ol Uncle Ted's philosophy of technology outpacing cultural development to deal with it.
They have all that and they still try to do things by their old cultural standards. Venezuela might work better as a nation building project because at the very least the people of Venezeula share in the western christian cultural traditions to some extent. That can go a long way in making meaningful changes towards a more prosperous nation.
The U.S. really has nothing to lose by building up south american countries economically especially to be used as resource trade partners. A stronger overall western hemisphere is beneficial to the U.S. in the long run and is a better deterrent against communism/socialism.

People have no idea how bullish these cuts are because nobody really knows anything about oil history because it is boring lol

Before in history OPEC allowed 2.5 million barrels of oil to be cut back from production and this was enough to double the price in a year. Now OPEC is doing 15! Obviously, this isn't proven by deeds and the demand for oil is so low its scary but
It should be noted that 2.5 million barrels was enough to drive the price up to 100 from a similar level in 2015.

My theory is that the world is desperate for the economy to come back, once it does, it will be the greatest single economic orgasm of all time. Think everyones family in the USA rushes to meet each other. Travel will be literally booked solid, SOLD OUT plane flights throughout summer. Also cars will be all over roads sucking up cheap fuel.

China will fire up their industrial to 120% to catch up to orders and demand for their products. 24/7 shifts and also Europe will experience the same insane gridlock on travel.

Oil and gas companies are going to be critical so the travel can happen. Also battered airlines could also skyrocket so also own some of those before Memorial Day.

>Now OPEC is doing 15!
Well... maybe. It'll probably come in around high single digits to 10 or thereabouts due to cheating. And everybody cheats on these deals a little (or a lot). It's still a huge historic cut though and not to be underestimated.

The US has always messed with the central/south americas. Even more than the middle east. Plus Venezuela is clearly a coup failed state and prime target. No one will really be upset.

yeah and then corona comes back with a vengeance. Also 15 million bdp is a fraction of the 80 million bpd extracted. Oil is driven by demand, supply reacts to the demand, demand outlook is still bleak.

This. for example USA backed numerous coups that resulted in police states and other dictatorships in brazil and other SA countries. They have the purely coincidental, goy, tendency to do that whenever a country is entering a golden age.

My theory is that the equillibrium will go back to where it was before the crisis. Demand curve will shift back to where it was, supply curve will remain around the same. Over time though I think Demand for oil will shrink as humans move more toward renewable energy sources

Everything is priced in

Are you me? This is been my strategy the last 6 months. I figure I can drop close to 20k a year extra from my paycheck into the stock market. Slowly hoping to life off the dividends as I get older.

I never got serious about this until I got a girl pregnant and have a son on the way july 4th.

Newfag here.

I've been jumping in and out of ARI and DOW since they bottomed. I've made 35% doing this.

With the Fed coming in this week, many say its not going to turn back. But looking at still not opening up the economy until 5/30 I don't see how it doesn't pull back some. Also aren't there some big money traders also up from the lows and would be advantageous for them to sell before earnings and buy again at new lows?

Trying to time getting back in has me worried at these levels.

herd immunity isn't gonna kick in until the 3rd wave. Takes a while for that to happen. And the economy has to shut down during these waves to make sure it doesn't get unmanageable. There is no herd immunity yet. Social distancing, the meme that it is, has made sure this will be a protracted affair.

Don't like it, seems stuck in the past. Tons of wrong-seeming assumptions (in hindsight) based on the means of the time and coming from a decrepit boomer of the time.
Also, it simultaneously predicts the current bear market will last 6-10 more months, and that it's already over.
