People have ruminated on a Frexit or Italexit as they have growing nationalist movements and weakening economies. I think things are going to continue to get worse. The coronavirus isn't going to just disappear and things will continue to deteriorate over the coming months. Well, firstly it's good to mention that more than half (15) of the Europeans are ahead of the US in testing despite drastically less spending in public health care per capita (however you adjust it). Generally most of them them also do have better health care systems than the us (if you measure on the level of the whole population, how good of an access the average person has to health care). Even fucking post CCCP Estonia has better health care on objective standards, without even adjusting for costs (which puts the US as the worst among OECD).

While southern countries are fucked, if you want to look at the total Eurozone, you need to look at total debt to GDP and the growth numbers in the whole Europe, not areal. EU 28 debt to gdp was 80.1% pre crisis. USA had it at 106.9%.

Italy is not gonna be kicked from the EU because of corona crisis, nor is Italy leaving because they depend on the EU. Generally, there will be problems for sure. But EU collapse would not fix any of them, vice versa probably.

It's mostly the people who were anti-EU already before the crisis, now circle jerking over the idea of EU collapse.

Events/catalysts are key. Most biotechs don't move without an event in the near future but most tend to run up towards catalysts.
Info leaks. Check short interest and borrow availability as events come closer.
