Next week the market cannot hide from reality. Earnings reports for Q1 begin to be released, including Delta Airlines, which will be viewed as a bellweather in this market - especially after Buffet sold his stake. The blood will be in the water. I see two ways for it to play out from there either a slow bleed to the new lows like 2008, or we violently snap back down as the market stops being able to run from the economic realities at hand.

*ahem*
Hello frens. Wondering what to do in these uncertain economic times? Well.. SOXL is the answer.
Face it; semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, the list is endless. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, demand requires bigger, faster, cheaper, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender, asshole virginity or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: semiconductor.
SOXL couples a single ETF entry point with the the best companies the space has to offer then pushes these already stellar returns to the limit with 3x leverage. With SOXL your economic interests are aligned with powerhouses TSM, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. Real tech companies with innovative products people want, not """tech""" """companies""" pushing shitty ads. And like all leveraged ETFs, SOXL is rebalanced daily, deftly mitigating margin risks.
In the last 7 years, barring the coronavirus interruption, SOXL has exploded over 55x yet still we are early. Semiconductor growth will proceed exponentially until every viable space is saturated with it. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and compelling outcomes make it so. The injection of increasingly compact and efficient sensors, microcontrollers, information processing and storage into everywhere and everything will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXL holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for more "pullback". The crash was a gift and fretting over the exact bottom is meaningless. Deliberation is over; waiting is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

The cloud services is already a big market and will continue to grow. It's also high margin. Amazon makes a lot of it's profit from the cloud services compared to its retail.

Microsoft has been taking market share away from amazon and has a lot of experience working closely with businesses from it's OS and office products. I think they are best poised to be the two big players in the cloud market.

Google had a huge advantage, but failed to capitalize early. They will probably it's going to be tougher for them now they are playing catch up.

The primary downside with MSFT is it's already back to january prices, so it has let potential for quick rebound gains. But it will also lose less if we see another drop.

The second happened because houses were getting traded for multiples of their inherent value, and suddenly started trading at face value.

For this one, you can literally just start the companies back up and they should have the same market value.

Well, if the price of SOXL has gone up since selling the puts, you can buy-to-close them out at a profit, then just buy actual SOXL instead.

You could also consider buying deep ITM LEAPs, such as 2022 or 2024 call options with a strike price of $50 or $80, which should feel roughly the same as holding the real shares at a $50 or $80 discount.

AWS is a tremendous of the profit for sure, but you should also look at its slice of revenue.
To my understanding, amazon.com (the retail site) has always run at barely any profit at all and, in fact, didn't actually become profitable until 2007 or so.
Amazon was accused of using AWS to subsidize it's retail website, which was an argument for it being a monopoly that should be split up.

Point being, AWS is definitely a cash cow in terms of profit, but possibly not so in terms of revenue. Additionally, profit does not mean "growth" which is essentially for maintaining AMZN's massive P/E ratio... AWS already has a tremendous market share, so the room for growth there could be questionable.

Oh yeah I believe in these semis and been buying all the way down so this bounce put me back in the green. All gravy from here on out.
On the puts my thinking is I kind of want to be ready for whichever way it goes. I'm selling at prices right around where I want to buy the dip anyway if we keep going down but if we just go up, hey it's free money so I either let them expire or sell then rebuy. I've probably bought and sold 10 contracts over the last couple of weeks. Netted 15k or so just on that. I would just stop playing games and buy in but the likelihood of another huge dump is still pretty high. The bright side is I still have a couple of hundred thousand on the sideline that I'm slowly moving over so if we do dump hard I'll be able to scoop up a huge chunk of shares. Trying to end up with a million or so on the other side of all this. We gonna make it

Tyson said it would divert livestock that was headed to Columbus Junction to other pork plants in the region to minimize the impact on its production.

this is potentially the best time to trade options. i came up with brilliant plan of buying up shitton of worthless options, then setting them to automatically sell when they rise slightly in value. while the market was swinging everyday, was a quality. because the market has done the same thing for 3 days, i am now ruined. but it was a quality plan when the market was whackier. i am hoping market swings down even a bit tomorrow morning, so I CAN OFFLOAD MY FUCKING PUTS THAT ARE BLEEDING ME LIKE AN EX-WIFE. once that happens, plan will resume profit

IC path is alright here. I started as an SDE II. We have the option of going the Engineering Manager route, but plenty of devs become senior devs, tech leads and we have a handful of principal devs that I think make good money. As a Sr. Dev I make 170k base in a rather high COL area, which I think is well below FB, MS etc st dev salaries. I joined before we ipod though so I have (had) a huge stock incentive.

Well, I'm well aware of that.
Hiring freezes are the way to go from my understanding.
>because hiring a new person who's actually worth hiring costs as much as their salary
That is news though. Looking forward to seeing more metrics at my company about just what a fuck load of people get rejected in order to hire somebody.
I had only heard the downside of lay-offs primarily from a morale perspective.
Having a hiring freeze every other year is nothing, but firing 30% would make the work culture toxic

My last company claimed to have it, but it was completely bullshit. You'd get a title like it was still engineering stuff, but all of them still had direct reports.
We had a role called "distinguished engineer" but it functioned the exact same way as a director.

>We have the option of going the Engineering Manager route, but plenty of devs become senior devs, tech leads and we have a handful of principal devs that I think make good money.
Alright, it sounds fairly legit.
Do the Sr. Devs and tech leads still report to the manager as an SDE I or SDE II or would they report to somebody higher up, like a director? (That's how it works at Amazon)

>As a Sr. Dev I make 170k base in a rather high COL area, which I think is well below FB, MS etc st dev salaries.
Those numbers on levels.fyi are real.
Sr SDEs at Amazon really do make 250k-350k.
They know their shit though here.
My last company would do shit like giving people the title of Sr. SDE after 6-12 months out of college. It's very hard to get that title at Amazon with any less than 5 yoe, but most have 10-15 yoe.

>I joined before we ipod though so I have (had) a huge stock incentive.
That's something that keeps me away from start-ups is that the RSUs can very easily turn to toilet paper, and it can be a long and wild ride for getting to cash them out.

Give or take, but that does not include commercial mortgages or rents, just private residences. To put it into perspective, during the peak of the 2008 recession, there was 2.8 - 3.1 million foreclosures, which constituted about ~1.8% of all mortgages collapsing in just one year.
