That dude is a brainlet

The supply comes from a huge miner dump.

Yeah, he's a brainlet alright. That's why he is in charge of an investing firm and you aren't. Because he's a brainlet. He can act dumb at times, but he clearly understands Bitcoin's scarcity and value prop.

What's the cost of starting a LLC and calling yourself "an investment firm"? 50 bucks?

This argument is flawed and only applies in a world where only miners sell bitcoin and no one else. Supply won't actually drop by 50% since the pre existing bitcoin still exist and will continue to be traded. The amount of new bitcoin being introduced to the market is what will be reduced by 50%.

Now here is what most people miss: even though the new supply introduced will be half of what it used to be, you are still adding new supply to the market, so unless demand continues to increase as well the price won't rise as much as you may think.

he's right, but there is also a flip side:
no one can price in the scenario where miner's simply stop caring about bitcoin. there is a chance 99% of miners simply dont care to mine bitcoin until it drops severely in difficulty. and this wont necessarily be because of bitcoin or the heat on bitcoin from regulation, but it could simply be the opportunity cost of NOT doing something else with their hardware, personnel, real estate, energy, etc.

tldr ALSO mining behavior post halving CANNOT be priced in. its a wait and see game

pomp's a high midwit. he knows how to speak to the level of his audience and makes money herding them with the btc maximalism schtick which he obviously knows is bullshit. when he hosts very intelligent or knowledgable people, he asks questions that show he's got a surface understanding with a few tricks up his sleeve but knows he's out of his depth. brainlets don't operate on that level.
