Because Saudis and Russians wanted US to cut their production as well. Yeah, the US will try to subsidize their oil companies, but this won't work for long. You just can't store oil in such large quantities.
I was obviously sarcastic when saying Russia and Saudia Arabia will cut their production. Now after what Trump just said they won't do it. They wanted the US to take a burden too, but Trump basically confirmed the opposite just now. Next step is that he's going to tariff foreign oil and this will fail too.
