No they rarely cold or even warm stack cruise ships, it's a mountain of a task to re-commission even a shitty tanker because of the massive degradation that happens when a ship isn't crewed. Generally as soon as a ship is unprofitable it'll be sold or scrapped by Turkey or in Chittagong. It's one thing getting a tanker with less than 20 rooms back up and running, imagine getting a cruise liner back to 4-star status with a thousand rooms. My bet is that scrap steel will become more worthless due to the number of cruise ships getting scrapped.

Also a fuckton of cruise ship staff are going to jump to private yacht industry which sucks because that was my plan B now that oil is in the shitter

US shale exports are what Saudi Arabia hopes to (and will succeed to) kill. Shale was only remotely profitable as an export and most shale companies assumed 60 dollars/barrel or greater cost just to remain solvent. All of their massive debt holdings was leveraged against that. These companies aren't dying, they are dead. At this point artificially inflating the cost of oil from everywhere else in the world to 60 dollars a barrel would be better spent just writing their bondholders a check for half that. And doing that would also crush everyone but Saudi Arabia least of all.
They know exactly what they are doing. Tariffs are absolutely fucking worthless here.
Threatening to pull out of security arrangements is a different matter entirely. But the Saudis bankrolled 9/11 and got off with slaps on the wrist so I doubt that will change because of the shale industry.

The question is wether Trump and his government will just sit idle and let it happen or do something about it. They have the instruments to put a halt on this, both via threats and concessions and Trump has shown that he is at least determined to tackle the situation which is probably why markets closed with a plus even when it turned out that his tweet didn't have much substance. It's just to see if he's actually willing to to something that works or stick to appealing to Putin and the Saudis for cuts.

A put contract gives the buyer the right to sell 100 shares of a given company at the stated strike price, the buyer hopes the value of the stock will be below the strike price at expiry so they can make a profit.

If you write a put, it means you think a stock will not be below that strike price by expiry, so selling blue chip puts is easy money if you know what you're doing because the odds that Microsoft will suddenly shed 10% in a month is extremely low but some idiots still bet on it. Of course, the only exception is right now during extreme market corrections.

Simply put you're betting that the stock is going down and paying a premium to have a contract on that stock.

If you buy a put contract and its in the money, when it expires, it gives you the right but not the obligation to sell short 100 shares of the company you have a put contract on to the writer of the option. A lot of people don't trade the contract, but rather they trade the premium which is affected by a multitude of factors that are represented by greek letters (Delta, Gamma, Vega and Theta)

this. Oil prices were described as "arcane" by a seasoned insider here, so think about that. All you munchkins are just speculating on oil, and at this point, on stocks as well. You have no advantage over other traders (as opposed to ~6-10 weeks ago when we all knew about the virus in China before people here knew). It's ok to just sit and wait and think. Think and do research. Don't make moves when it's pure gambling.
