US shale exports are what Saudi Arabia hopes to (and will succeed to) kill. Shale was only remotely profitable as an export and most shale companies assumed 60 dollars/barrel or greater cost just to remain solvent. All of their massive debt holdings was leveraged against that. These companies aren't dying, they are dead. At this point artificially inflating the cost of oil from everywhere else in the world to 60 dollars a barrel would be better spent just writing their bondholders a check for half that. And doing that would also crush everyone but Saudi Arabia least of all.
