Oil can go negative and XOM will still have value. Even if a refinery and distribution network has a magic pipe of infinite free crude running into it, the output is still worth quite a bit. You can't put crude into your oil pan or gas tank. You can't inject it into a mold and get a plastic part.
The drop in their share price is due to panic and a lower demand for fuel during this period of severely reduced travel. Both will go away eventually, and if they can buy oil off the saudis for $15/ barrel then they can sharply lower the price for fuel and still make a profit. Lower prices for commodities actually increases demand, so I don't see them really losing long term.
In a word to describe XOM, I'd say "oversold".

Trump didnt even comment or notice oil dropping until people starting complaining about companies going bankrupt. He didnt have any bailouts or help in the stimulus bill. He literally doesnt care, he wants low oil to hurt Iran and Venezuela and to lower gas prices to "stimulate" the economy. He is literally too stupid to realize most shale companies are going bust now. Dont expect him to help oil in anyway for foreseeable future.

Divvy stocks are only worth holding onto long term. A trailing stop becomes rather secondary to ensuring you get a "safe" dividend that won't leave the second times get tough. Cruise ships were already hotspots of infection. Just like convention centers, sport games, and any other place where people are packed together in a social environment. The ships have gotten better as they roll out mitigations. Over the last few years I think all liners have started strongly encouraging the use of hand sanitizer before entering the buffet area. They should also really do a basic medical check before boarding. Just a temp check and basic observation for signs of illness would be a major improvement.

>>18244051
Some liners are much more youth oriented, but the destinations are all hyper commercial and fake as fuck. The newer ships are all too big to dock at many of the older and less built up ports, ferrying is expensive, and larger ships generally give better returns. The result: A small number of destinations at the most profitable (often liner owned) locations are what is available. The younger generations prefer a more real experience over a more luxurious one. Most of these ships do everything they can to pretend they aren't a ship. A lot about them seems very fake. Then you get on shore and if you have any level of awareness you'll realize all the local shops are owned by the same company, and all the people you run into are essentially acting. This is bad for long term revenue. Most young people will try cruising once, and figure it's boring. Liners can easily pivot when this really starts to become a problem though. Ferrying is always an option to visit more interesting destinations without needing a massive dock, and ships can be remodeled to be more genuine. In the long term, smaller vessels with less extravagance will be necessary.

You will have to hold the divvy stock from the reserve date at least to get anything. Buying and selling dividend stocks is basically trading but on the scale of weeks. That is simply not going to be worth your time. You get these stocks to hold onto for years, maybe even decades. All that will matter is that the dividend is consistent and "safe" in that the company does not have a habit of pulling it often. All of them will be a steal right now. Just price in slowly like once a week or once a month.
