Imagine the roman empire - under the economic tutelage of indian street shitters - formulated a currency system that used a significant portion of its gold and military might to enshrine the scatological graffiti found among the various bath houses in rome.

Imagine that this new system completely intertwined this random graffiti and their currency in such a way that it was impossible to differentiate where one started and the other finished. Grocery list, IOU's, advertisements, "for a good time call", drawings of random penises, all of it became the fundamental reserve of each and every roman coin.

Who would have the intelligence to speak against this?

well, I have a master's in computer engineering specializing in data science, so still primarily that I suppose, but I'm currently finishing up my bachelor's in environment and natural resources at a different university, which involves a lot of climate science
immutable and uniform data sources like WeatherSV is providing is a godsend in many respects, it and other sources will prove to become more and more valuable as time goes by

I wish weather stations would just start publishing their data to the blockchain. That way there would be more sources than just WeatherSV. Eventually it will be that way, I'm just impatient. Everything will work that way. Markets will publish their individual data, public businesses will publish their quarterly earnings, etc. Basically anything that could be used in a smart contract or just curiosity shit.

yep, exactly
Stephan Nilsson is already doing amazing work on putting entire supply chains on the blockchain, I also imagine that in the future all such data will be readily accessibly in a uniform format, and all immutable by the nature of the blockchain itself
it's simply marvelous, going to revolutionize so many different aspects of society

wait you think climate data is not distributed enough to be practically unforgeable as is?
also you think there is any mechanism stopping anyone from submitting falsified data to be stored indefinitely with sv?
sv is like the worst of both worlds it's both centralized and also unreliable.
