>>1819392I'm going to attempt it, maybe I'm wrong but I'll try. I also haven't slept in 2 days so enjoy the English.Alright, here's our regular contract, every time you send me a bitcoin at my address I'm going to do what you asked me to do, let's say take a number from a website and increase it, then maybe some other task too, depending on conditions and the input. I'll keep some of the bitcoin for myself because I had to do work, consider it fuel, the rest either goes elsewhere if that's what was in the contract, or back to you.Imagine that but instead of a human it's autonomous, the network will do the tasks listed in the contract. You send eth to a contract with some data and the contract executes like a program, the capabilities are broad so you have to be vauge, in the same way a computer program could "do anything" so can this and since it's hosted on the ethereum network it doesn't stop working unless the whole network goes down, it's fueled by the users too so you don't have to worry about maintaining/fueling it yourself.Wow that explanation was terrible but I already wrote it.

>>1821160yes, it's far from certain they'll develop it properly, still a large risk discountyou could reliably see a return on ethereum by staking yours, which would make it a different asset than a cryptocurrency thenif you could only acquire more through buying, people would have to buy, and short minded miners wouldn't be decreasing the pricesome other fancy things then to make it more functional is increased block times so it can work faster, and a way to split the blockchain a bit to lessen redundanciesif you're interested in general watchhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66SaEDzlmP4

>>1821426I have read <1 hour on Eth but I see the potential for market disruption in gambling, which is a huge industry to fuck around with Given gambling has rich lobbyists I can see that causing some legislative roadblocks once it becomes a big player I suppose some tiny countries will monopolise Eth over gambling lobbyists and take a cut of all bets, but then our normal richfag countries will just ban us from using that serviceThink of the American online poker taleThoughts?

>>1821432>Given gambling has rich lobbyists I can see that causing some legislative roadblocks once it becomes a big playerCan you say what roadblocks specifically? The real value ethereum brings to gambling is seeing that the code is fair. Already plenty of bitcoin casino sites that aren't range banned properly from America.Gambling isn't what I'm most worried about. Look up swarm, and the illegal content it could host. But if you want to say that gambling lobbyists will hold it back, you're being simple minded. Look up the support from banks and microsoft on tuesday when enterprise ethereum is presented. Gambling is nothing compared to them.
>>1821456The roadblocks would be casinos, online and offline, lobbying their governments to have eth gambling made uncompetitive, whether through some taxation, banning, criminalizing, requiring they operate only within casinos -- whatever it may be. The gambling lobby is huge worldwide and won't let a new player emerge and take market share.I know some altcoin gambling exists, but when it becomes a market player, which would mean the coins are probably much more valuable as they're being used more often by more people... that's the point where lobbysts/lawmakers regulate it and cause problems for the currencies >enterprise ethereumFrom what I've read nobody knows what that is due to privacy.

It's reminiscent of the ideals of Plan9 bur with costs involved instead of implicit sharing of resources. These distributed applications living on their own independent from their creator, existing in the network as a whole instead of simply utilizing said network. It's exciting to see.

>>1822627Now that we established that buttcoin can not be reasonably used for smart contracts, let's address your next point. Both prevalent Ethereum implementations have thousands of test cases for the EVM. The VM modifies the blockchain state only and has no side effects. Being able to escape this VM is therefore very improbable. Contracts are not, and in fact, due to the gas limit they cannot currently be, as complex as you purport. Want a contract that is incapable of running loops and/or stateless? Yes, you can have that too because the EVM isTURINGCOMPLETE
ETH is a coiled spring. Getting in under $20 will be the stuff of dreams in 6 months. I passed on BTC at these prices. Never again. ETH is set for the next crypto ascendency. >>1824118Honestly the fact that the old ETC still lives and trades speaks heaps about the ethereum project.
>>1824137not really.

I don't like the dip it takes. Please tell me everything is okay.
>>1824224Is it going to drop? Should I buy right now or should I buy later waiting for a price drop?
>>1824224everything will be okay in the long term, i'm unsure about the short term, but i'll just sit through it, i sat through the beginning of january with bitcoin, i'll manage now.
>>1824224what app is this?
>>1824242Blockfolio. 14.30€ reeeeee im scared>>1824239Thanks. I'm new to such tradings and investements and don't want to panik sell. What is 200€ today when you maybe have 2000€ in a few years?
>>1818463you know what else noticed an uptrend?the third reich
A few $ up and down is insignificant. Keep buying, keep holding. Imagine this is BTC circa 2011. There's a guy out there who panic-sold BTC because it "crashed" from $20 to $16.
>>1824347You are right. Please tell me this daily.
I pick up a handful of future-$1000 ETH every day. Whether they cost $12 or $15 means nothing. With what's on the horizon and the amount of traction Ethereum gains every day, buying at sub-$25 prices is like printing money.
>>1824363Why is everyone so confident in this?I never hear anyone except here projecting such a big success for Ether.Sure, it'll grow, but not like Bitcoin.
>>1824382The next step for BTC is quite a giant leap whereas the next step for Ethereum is well within reach.
>>1824347>>1824348Oh yeah? How about LTC and the heaps of other failed cryptos? But sure, this time it will be different for sure! It must be different...
>>1823942>ASIC resistant what does that mean
>>1824115>>1818439Where do you buy eth? It seems like this conversion rate is horrible
ETH is INFLATIONARYwho the fuck is buying ETH and not BTC for long term retirement.
any place to buy it directly w/ debit card? I dont have time to go through localbtc bullshit at the moment
>>1824613>>1824599Coinbase.
>>1824550It is resistant to specially made miners that are made just for it's encryption system. Basically Bitcoin has a bunch of miners made to do one thing-mine bitcoin, which squeezes out even people with really powerful home computers from mining. This helps decentralize the system, whereas bitcoin is centralized on large miners.
>>1824137>chain forks>10% of dummies left with a shitcoinreally speaks heaps>>1824550it means that chinks can't buy otherwise useless computer processors and run them in a warehouse with free power to control the mining base85% of btc mining is in china, and the miners hold most of the coinsbtc is like diamonds, a small cartel colludes to control the supply keeping prices high
Is it really risky leaving crypto on online exchanges like Coinbase or Kraken?I don't feel like fucking around with the wallets and transactions.
>>1824616>Coinbaseyou can buy eth directly from there? or you mean btc?
>>1824627Just download the ETH wallet it takes 5 minutes to write down your code and send it to your wallet.
>>1824632You can buy directly from ETH. I just bought 6 more a minute ago.
>>1824627It depends on your amount of coins and what you are planing. If you want to hold for a longer time put them in your wallet. I wouldn't store them too long time at an exchange. They could always become bankrott and "accidentally lose" all coins. Backup your wallet and password over 9k times and you will be safe.>>1824632If it's like on Kraken you can deposit Dollars or Euros and just buy ETH or fuck around with trading. You just have to pay 0.005ETH per transfer to you wallet at Kraken.
>>1824637>>1824636thanks bros. for some reason, eth wasnt showing up as a currency until I refreshed the page.
>>1824636whats with the $100 card limit? any way to way to get rid of the limit?

Unless can avoid Coinbase level fee, I ain't gonna buy this shitcoin sorry.
>>1825875try gemini exchange
The eth shills have come out of the woodwork once again in desperation to remain relevant since Bitcoin all time high'd recentlyFriendly reminder eth is a pre-mined scamcoin like every other altcoinSage and ignore eth threads
>>1825913Are we still in December 2016?
