bobo thinks that the drops of 2-3 weeks ago were a reflection of the market being rational, but now they aren't because we are crabbing.

Maybe, the drops of 2-3 weeks ago priced in fears that are now turning out to be false regarding the rona virus.

okay firstly the drops were pricing in the impending shutdown based off the decrease in profits.
secondly, well idk where i was going with this i just wanted to say that.

Dunno if you meant to quote me but this situation is so insane that maybe the fed has realised that the only way to fix it is to do something equally insane, By creating so much debt that it is somehow reversing the effect of a literal 1 millions per day probably going into unemployment pool. i think they want to keep the stock market propped up yes. Do I think they know what they are doing to the broader market, no. J P has even said that buying stocks is not out of the question, which would be unheard of.

Thats a good point, the only way out of this is calm, rational, slow deceleration of their purchasing of securities and derivatives. They are doing that currently, but if the market starts to tank again they will start ramping up activities again.
This begs the question, why is the only way out to let the market fall? well its because a market NEEDS to be efficient, meaning, securities that arent worth anything are priced low. right now lots of securities are worth intrinsically less because of the shutdown but the fed is artificially propping up the price, preventing the market from being efficient, and all these big boys depend on the market being efficient for their hedging, underwriting, and security. so basically the fed is breaking the system and its going to crack unless they let the market fall.

look at the price of Boeing and tell me thats not the fed buying up a big market cap company to reinflate the bubble. a lot of the big gold bugs (they are biased) are already saying that the market price of gold has completely decoupled with the price of physical gold. and without a shadow of a doubt you know paper gold isn't being backed up by physical gold 1:1.

Boeing has been bid on the presumption that it will be bailed out (it will, but not necessarily under favourable terms for existing shareholders). Paper gold has never been backed 1:1.

>> No.18204664

>>18204565
i agree, paper gold isnt being backed up by physical. there was a comex broker that went insolvent due to a margin call.
Boeing is a bad example as they just had good news last week, they got approval to continue production of their 747max so they didnt completely shut down operations, plus they get a bailout and their CEO is playing nice. dont get me wrong, boeing is overpriced still but they have a minuscule amount of rationality for their rally.
The fed just announced opening up repo for treasuries to FIMA, now the risk is spreading to international markets.

>> No.18204704

the entire paper market is based on paper and physical being coupled. once that trust is broken, the true demand for physical starts to show and prices on physical rises (in theory). i am not well versed in commodities, so please correct me if my thinking is wrong.

It happens a lot when stocks go up. Rotation to risk assets. You didn't think the 30 year would stay below 1% did you? Imagine what the Fed is going to do over these next 30 years... Rather it's to the $ or the interest rate, ur screwed either way.

How do you "price in" a complete shutdown of the global economy for 6 months?
Oh wait that's right you get your ass bailed out by the Fed printing money while the whole country becomes unemployed and every business in the world sells itself into debt slavery to stay alive.
Aka a fraudulent system.

If you wanna make a real argument for stock market manipulation go ahead but don’t use this fucking retarded analogy to shoot yourself in the foot. There’s nothing worse than people who bitch and moan about prescription drug prices and have no clue as to what the costs are for R&D, marketing, gov’t approval, failed drugs, regulations, etc. Go make your own fucking drugs if it’s so cheap and easy.
