Java is used for everything; people even used to write front-end code in java, but that has fallen out of favor; so if you're writing web apps you'd at least want to learn javascript too.

In the two companies I've worked for, we didn't really care what language you learned when interviewing. Java and Python are both fine for a backend language. Python is nice for data science/ machine learning/ finance though.

No unless you're seriously intelligent (140+ IQ) and dedicated to a special in-demand field. If you're not you're just gonna end up a code monkey or a system brainlet surrounded by either retarded girls who only got hired due to "equality", competitive narcissists who think they're geniuses but if there weren't midwits they'd actually be out there in R&D on serious projects, and of course there are always the anime-watching pedophiles. And that's just the people you'll be surrounded, as for the work itself you can earn more while putting a LOT less effort just picking a different normal job, there are way too many people looking to get in and the work culture is an absolute nightmare.

SICP is the Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs; it was the introductory computer science textbook at MIT for ~30 years. It uses a dialect of LISP called Scheme, which almost no one uses in real jobs, but it's an excellent textbook and a /g/ meme. MIT's new introductory course uses python (https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/introduction-computation-and-programming-using-python-second-edition, https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-7).).

80% of coders larp that they understand something because actually they have no fking clue of what the fuck they are doing.
I had it in electric engineering study at school for 1 year. I basically hated it because you are basically writing something that the computer should understand but the computer is like a fking nothing you have to teach what u actually want from it. Imagine a blank wall and writing some shit on it and that wall suddenly begins to do the math in the background.
Totaly not worth the effort at all in that directory imho.

I have mixed feelings about this.
For one you have literal thirdworlders with Laptops 15 years old costing $25 and Internet Access for $5 the month that are in in theory on the same playing field with a bay area living 6figures making dev on a $5k MacBook Pro. And with education being free to the genius ones/ dedicated ones are being rewarded. With the internet being accessible to anyone in the same way everything profitable ''loophole'' of any sort gets priced in quick. It is a double edges sword, in the same way you can theoretically endlessly scale your business thanks to the internet and the same time half of the worlds population is online all of them are technically your competitors that could replicate you.

Use the physical environment around you to look ventures. Because there are not 3.5 billion people in your near location that can profit off something.
TLDR you can probably make more money starting a landscaping business to get a contract with your local state gov to maintain streets and parks for example because the competitors are little. Decent amount of business owners are more than paper millionaires owning their lives to the bank
