ETFs just track the market. So when the market is going to go down another 50-75% you are just going to go down with it with an ETF. So why hold an ETF in a bear market, makes no sense.

DCAing into ETFs and just hodling them indefinitely its boomer investing. Where you just pray that long term, they will not only go up but significantly beat inflation. That works when you start out in the 50s where no one owns stocks. Now most americans own stocks and most of their savings are in stocks.

There is no growth left long term for stocks. They are just going to slowly die or just go up due to inflation.

Lets say you buy Swppx (S&P 500 fund). You dump 540.00 into it to start. Each year you dump 1000.00 more into it. You do this for 26 years. Assuming an 8% return over all that time your left with 90,344.00 after 26 years. Which divided by 12 gives you 7528 a month to live from. This is just an example.

Generally I would recommend index funds, but this TRULY is unprecedented territory. I don’t want to own indexes that hold companies with bad balance sheets. I’m even considering ditching some of my VTSAX, which is practically sacrilege. I think there may be ETFs and and actively managed funds that are likely to outperform.
