Playing Hades
Learning how to make ToS do my backtesting of indicator strategies for me with their "Strategies" function
Looking at intraday 1m charts, primarily for AMD and /ES. it's funny how people constantly scan for what stocks to trade and I just trade 1 stock because it's a highly liquid and popular stock so it trends pretty much every day. lately it's been kinda shit but that's okay it mostly just winds up with hitting my target price on half my shares and stopping out on the other half a lot more, might switch to just getting out of positions entirely at 1R instead of scaling out if this keeps up. the volatility is still good enough where you can make a pretty penny if you can just 1x the ATR. i mean $0.20/share for 100 shares is $20 and only requires $5k in capital. obviously if you have enough capital to get 1000 shares that would make it $200 instead. but you could just straight-up do $20 bets all day on AMD if you have a good scalping system.

>BOSTON (CBS) — Hospital staff around the country are treating coronavirus patients while trying to keep themselves safe. A surgeon on the front lines at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) said it has been a big change.
>“The biggest challenge right now with this COVID-19 is just the change of how the hospital is working,” said Myron Rolle, a neurosurgery resident at MGH. “If you were to look at this hospital five months ago it would be completely different.”
>Dr. Rolle said the hospital sees 50 to 100 patients suspected to have the coronavirus every day. He said they come from New Hampshire, Maine and other nearby states.
>His predicted outlook for the future was grim.
>“I think Massachusetts right now is a little bit behind New York, but in a week or two, from what we’re hearing, it’s probably going to reach New York or even supercede New York honestly,” Dr. Rolle said.
>Even so, he said everyone has an important role to play in stopping the spread of the virus.

Lol, trading was going so quickly then that the tabulation machines that kept track of buys and sells was printing for 12 hours after the markets had already close. I am sorry but you have to be in denial to, well, deny the similarities to the great depression. We are dropping inspite of the stimulus, ffs (scary stuff).

Much of what was going on at the time was very similar:

if you research this stuff (which admittedly im only beginning to really dig in to), you'll realize that this cycle has repeated itself a shit ton of times in history, pretty much every since stock markets were first invented and leverage has existed.

>there are good times/multi-year bull run
>people think <insert asset class that is traded here> can only go up
>people massively overleverage to buy said asset (stocks, mortgage-backed securities, tulips, whatever) because they think it can only go up
>they make money, it does in fact go up, they overleverage EVEN MORE

>one day: it doesn't keep going up
>actually it's going down
>actually... oh fuck IT'S REALLY FUCKING GOING DOWN
>people think "oh fuck i gotta get out im so overleveraged, i'll lose everything, and even owe money!"
>people start pulling out
>it goes down more
>more people start freaking out and try to get out
>snowball, panic ensues, etc, crash happens

>bunch of people get fucked for awhile, recession/depression happens in some form
>eventually bull market resumes again as people put the pieces back together of their financial lives
>asset starts going up again
>good times start to arrive again
>people think said asset only goes up
>they start overleveraging again...

the key now for us, people in our 20's-30's, is that this will keep happening. after this coronavirus shit, there will be another massive bull run, during which people will once again overleverage, after which some event will cause a crash (subprime mortgages, coronavirus, etc), after prices will be reset and start the whole process over. you should all learn how to take advantage of this cycle, study it.

I don't have a lot of money so I am buying my one put and don't care so I will tell you guys The Big Short of the year besides of course the markets, duh.

I just realized that Netflix puts will be lifechangers. What makes this play even juicier is there is a lot of bull faith because "supposedly we are all at home and subscribing to Netflix".

It hinges on corporate debt being the thing keeping the entire company afloat and this will end up being its achilles heel.

Corporate debt liquidity is going to be HUGE and cause one of the worst recessions ever. Source that explains why in depth: https://wtop.com/business-finance/2020/03/heres-what-could-really-sink-the-economy-19-trillion-in-corporate-debt/

Netflix is one of the worst offenders in overleveraging in debt.
--Variety
Netflix reported $12.43 billion in debt, up from $10.36 billion at the end of 2018. The latest proposed debt offering would be the eighth time in the last five years that Netflix is raising $1 billion or more through debt. The streaming giant last raised $2.2 billion in junk bonds in April 2019.

What happens when you take a debt whore who can't pay its bills anymore because it treats its audience like trash, it gets what it fucking deserves! (/pol/ incels get offa my board!!!)

What is going to happen is Netflix is going to have to admit they will have to cut down on content drastically down to a pitiful 1% of its current rate. They will only be able to budget for whatever they can get with cash only (if they cannot find more debt if they can this might be a failed play). Or possibly dilute the stock/stock offering which also wrecks the share price. Admitting this will cause people to FLEE Netflix on a biblical scale, and could cause the worst drop since 2011 before it went online.

TL:DR NFLX = Bad and 150 a share is honestly not even close to out of the question, 100 a share is even possible post earnings.

Almost no one thinks it’s the bottom. Nothing I read says that.

I do think that the indexes will definitely retest the lows and maybe plunge to even Dow 15000 or SPX 2000.

BUT people were selling “What they could” not what they wanted to. I don’t know if we’ll see LMT below $300 again. Some of the best blue chips may have seen bottom. LMT, JNJ, MSFT, these companies aren’t going bankrupt.

But if you were naive enough to try to knife-catch shit like carnival cruises... good luck

Just change what you trade in depending on which stage of the cycle you're in. Stonks when things are going up, when a happening like Coronavirus or the real estate crash is knocking, sell stonks and buy gold and treasury bonds, invest in gold backed currency over fiat dollars, and then when the big institutions flood the market with money, cash in on that as long as the price is high.
They might be willing to devalue the dollar a bit, but they will NEVER allow it to die, if there is any possible way to stop that. Too much of the system depends on the petrodollar.
