So with the market being so far detached from reality I guess they really will try and force us into a bull market. They are losing their chance to a panic selloff as everybody is just confused and will just leave options and go back to holding stock. We have the worst news and the market is pumping, meaning there won't be a panic catalist big enough to bring us down next week.

Testing can be deployed earlier and find active cases (for quarantine or treatment) and recovered cases (to be integrated back into the work force) before a vaccine can be developed and deployed on a global basis.
I don't know what the boomer fascination with vaccines are when those would likely come about after it would have done much good. The quarantines could much more selective and focused (and less economically disruptive) if we knew who the hell had, didn't have, or was developing symptoms of the virus.
The virus seems to slowly mutate but may be resistant to weather effects which might mean we don't have the second hump typically seen in the flu as it rotates between hemispheres.

None of you know how to actually value a company. You can't read financial statements. For fuck's sake you think TA works and the entire field of decision science churns out dissertations every other day highlighting their absolute dismay at the fact that brainlets ever consider using it. Sometimes timing is everything. When the housing market just went into the shit (along with about everything else) I decided to strike. Ended up practically stealing a nice 3 bed, 1 & 1/2 bath, with a basement, garage and nice rear deck. Nice sized yard and totally redone main level. Previous owners had the bright idea of making the basement some sort of entertainment movie room, they half assed the electrical and didn't get far into this project when they decided to sell it. So after beating them over the head with it (the electrical) I got an even better deal. My mortgage is only 400 a month.

That's when futures open up, dumb dumb. I have slowly come to the terrible revelation that none of you know what the fuck you are doing. I have a Master's in Accountancy with a minor in Finance. I work for a fortune 100 as a corporate accountant with a CMA and CPA. I used to have some faith in anon.
None of you know how to actually value a company. You can't read financial statements. For fuck's sake you think TA works and the entire field of decision science churns out dissertations every other day highlighting their absolute dismay at the fact that brainlets ever consider using it. You have no idea what Dunning-Kruger is. You don't know what survivorship bias is. You are fucked.

real talk: do you guys differentiate between technical analysis (chart patterns, subjective stuff) and quantitative analysis (math, numbers, objective data), or do you just lump them together as TA (TA is anything involving analyzing price action itself in some way in order to make trading decisions, FA is any analysis not involving analyzing price action and volume).

i feel like most people who call bullshit on TA are just talking about chart patterns which are subjective. applying mathematical models to price analysis isn't subjective, average price or where price is trading within a price range of a certain period of time is a hard number that can be calculated for every candle and is therefore not subjective.

when probability to guess correctly is 70% you start sanding buy or sell orders in increasing steps so that last one always get largest one. and when trend vends up or down you continue sell or buy in a same increasing sequence.
Index is like -20% so if your account went down -5% - 8% it is not that big deal if you not in a harry to get your cash back . sooner or later index comes back to +2% or something so guess where will be your investments profit?

Correct. With knife catchy business you will usually wind up with a cost average some dollars above the eventual pivot. Buying somewhat above said pivot on a developing rebound, as opposed to knife catching before the pivot, is lower risk, more time efficient, and not necessarily any worse for your cost average and potential return. Also provides a strategic spot to put an initial stop loss that you wouldn't have if you're knife catching a drop.

My understanding for Amazon is that they had only a few years of debt and money burning before they essentially broke even and just went no profits mode for decades for maximum growth until AWS took off and they couldn't hide it anymore.

Additionally, Amazon is a highly sophisticated logistics system with Walmart tier abuse of suppliers. Hard to replicate. Uber is an app and a bunch of underpaid people in their own cars driving millennial around. They have myspace tier stability and can easily be replaced by another app with no discernible difference in service (like lyft).

Uber is aware of this and that's why they tried to develop their own self-driving cars using AI, but then they killed that woman in Arizona and I don't think they've restarted development, although I could be wrong. Either way, cars aren't ready to drive themselves so they're stuck with their current business model for the foreseeable future, and if ANYONE ELSE develops self driving cars, Uber is once again in a highly replicable business model with no distinguishing killer feature.

Overall I wouldn't buy either. Uber for being in a bad business model with lots of competition driving profits to zero, and Amazon for being an organic monopoly that's picking fights with politicians. They'll get split up at some point, as will Google and Facebook. They'd be fucking LUCKY to get the deal Microsoft got in their antitrust case.

FA will still tell you which stocks are bargain priced and worth picking up cheap. It WON'T tell you which ones are going to go bankrupt or will rocket back to overvalued, given all the cheap credit.

Oil stocks are a perfect example of this, I think. Lots of cheapies that will be worth the purchase even if they do go bankrupt. Tech is the opposite example: there's no telling which ones will tank and which ones will rocket to even higher evaluations.

Times like these are why Warren Buffet is rich.

Uber has brand recognition. "I'll call an Uber". Only thing that might save is is a Tesla merger. But I could also see Tesla just being like "Here is our new taxi service, our AI is now safer than your average Uber driver and our cars won't drive you our to the outskirts of a Kansas and rape you. Plus they are cheaper and you don't have to get in a car with black person who may have corona."

Still looking to buy in on Tesla and hold that bitch until the end of time. I think if they make a car with a bed in it, that can get you from NY to DC overnight for cheaper/same than an airline, then GG no re Uber and Airlines. Imagine you need to be somewhere tomorrow that is 8 hrs away. Schedule a Tesla to come get you at 4am, dirt cheap demand at those times. The thing shows up and the interior is a comfy ass bed. You get in, whole thing to yourself and wake up rested in another state and no TSA and airport for 3 hours. Tehn your day trip is done and you do the same thing to go home. It's close to fucking teleporting at that point.

im just saying, just because you have a FA reason for something to go in a particular direction doesn't mean it will go in that direction. maybe it does go in that direction, eventually, but it may take a long time, even years, for it to actually be fully realized. price doesn't move in a straight line, it moves in waves. the FA is still correct for the moment, with the quarantines and shutting down the economy temporarily obviously the market should continue to tank. but there will be up days, sometimes multiple up days in a row, and that's why TA is important. in fact, it's always going to be the most important thing, because everything it ultimately reflected in the price and volume over time.

You guys are aware that there's an entire generation of zoomers, raised solely on laptops and tablets and phones, fresh out of high school preparing to get into college right?
You guys do realize that more than half of all American freshmen have no idea what they want to study in college, nor how to go about appropriately planning for college, right?
You guys do realize that by the time the majority of students going back to college with the likely $1,200 college startup they will accrue (assuming they're at least 18 and working or are working while in college and filing independently, which is still a fair sum) are going to drop out of college before their sophomore year? And that retention rate slightly decreases with each accumulative year?

I hope you guys aren't looking short term at how Americans (investors) are going to use this money, throwing knives in the dark at what industries you THINK you know about playing out in the world we live in today? You're looking at a huge surge of college students coming in in the next few years who have finger flicking, immediate access to all relevant information for not only registering for college; but, also, what it takes to succeed in college, earn scholarships (local, state, federal, private, international, and degree-specific), AND all the while, American education standards have dwindled even further and further to meet students' learning needs and degree-specific needs?

If you think you know about an industry that may require a college degree (or job-training) and you think that industry is truly going to blow up after the Kung Flu (assuming you're in it for just the money), then you guys should be setting aside a little bit extra for college-based investments like data transmission, food services, sports sponsors, whatever.
>friendly tip from a bad student about to graduate - publishers are one of the worst culprits of planned obsolescence, and paperback will lead the way - digital is too risky.

Basically, if you want to exercise your option, your put only become profitable when the stock goes below the breakeven price, which is calculated using the cost of the premium (what you actually paid for) and the stock price change.

If you don’t want to exercise the option at all, you’re selling your contract to someone else, which can be a number of prices. You can offer a certain price but it’s a little easier to just take someone’s bid and sell it that way.
