Very hard to do in modern markets. Markets don't seem to really care about fundamentals right now. Only seems to work if you have a shit ton of money.

depends your strategy....always a buy in the market

I am in a way, I do stock screening and always go for the stocks in the lower 20% of p/b ratios among a dozen other factors. I've only been in one stock so far for a month and its down 12% lol, but my former professor who's a hedgie swears by the method I'm using so I'll stick it out the full year

The market is so high right now. Cape shiller has the S&P at 30. The difference between triple A bond yields and big index earnings is 0 (both are about 3%), so there's no margin of safety in stocks.

NVDA is value investment but I missed the dip

I am. Without knowing your strategy I'd say you might be using pre-QE metrics to look at CAP ratios. I think a lot of future inflation is priced into the markets, so price-earnings ratios are probably unusually high and may stay that way for a while.

Lol what

The efficient market hypothesis proves that value doesn't exist. Ergo, you're just wasting time and money looking for it.

Science - it works, bitches.

Hopefully earnings will go up for stocks once the trump tax cuts kick.

if the market is hot and people just want to throw money in, where the fuck do you think you would find value?

this is why it's more important today to move relative with the market.

don't worry, when the crash comes, suddenly you'll be overwhelmed with value.

Most hedgefunds lose money. Your professor's strategy was probably profitable years ago, but has dried up now.
