A building can be purchased by someone at a reasonable price, or taken over by a "holding company" and leased at an inflated price. In both cases the building exists.

Feds didn't know who was involved with his laundering schemes, so anyone who had any business relations with him had all of their assets frozen while they did a year long investigation. Movie theaters are built specificially to allow people to watch movies. They can charge what they want. More movie theaters can be built if demand is high, or closed down if demand dries up.

Real estate in a given area/region is very finite. If all the "prime" properties are bought up by a holding company or 'wealthy' scumlord, it causes price inflation while also introducing a heavy transient population effect that diminishes the quality of the community.

There is no comparison between commodities that can be produced on demand to meet demand, vs real estate. People need a shelter; people do not need to watch movies.
