Human psychology. We are entering the "defiant optimism" phase where reality denial is exercised to avoid fatigue. Everyone is sick of looking at the numbers going down so they are forcing them up, despite the fact that the economic impact hasn't even arrived yet. There might be another dive, there might not. What you can expect eventually is a slow failing climb as reality sets in and the bad news keeps trickling in over the next 12 months. We cannot just start back up again in a few months. Massive damage has occurred, the supply disruption hasn't hit hard yet, and earnings are going to be fucked for at least a few years while consumers and businesses recover. The bottom comes in 2021! I'd buy leaps on soxl but it seems like whenever I have bought calls on a triple leveraged ETF, the gains didn't compare to what I'd expect from just buying options on the unleveraged security.

E.g., spxs calls didn't seem to work as well for me as spy puts and I don't know why but I'm avoiding options on triple leveraged ETFs for now.

I had to pay a brokerage fee of $7 on one of my trades for reasons unknown to me, it was a different sort of stock I guess.
Anyways, despite that my portfolio is now worth $237 for basically no risk, but all I feel is anger because DIS is recovering so fast, my other stock is creeping up too fast, and I won't have investable funds until next week because muh biweekly paycheck bullshit, and then probably another week to clear those.

It isn't in their mandate.
Their mandate is both simple and clear: reasonable employment and monetary supply.

In times like this, their actions might seem confusing if someone doesn't have an understanding of monetary policy or turbulent market mechanics.

The Fed hasn't made any significant equity purchases yet, because buying stocks at this time is not necessary for their mandate. They have purchased other instruments, for specific and correct reasons.
They might not purchase equities, or they might.

Seems like a relief rally but we have no idea if it dumps and then goes into weeks or months of recession.

Given how hard the fed hit the gas I don't know how long it takes to get to peak or if recession time ends as soon as corona does.

If Trump fucks this up bad enough the virus could spread to more than 50% of the population and then mostly burn itself out... Only to come back (more gradually) for the remaining people once social distancing ends.

This unsustainable debt fuckery is dying in front of our eyes and US is taking communist tier action to prop things up.
If they pump the market up to new heights and it's clear the real life has no effect on it, no one is going to have any faith in the market in the future.

You really think we'll keep this chaos for the next several months?

I'm trying to predict the stages of a recession/depression: 1. Crash 2. Relief rally 3. Slow decline and figure out how to prep for them before most people do.

Right now we're bull but how to prep for a slow decline? Tbh I don't even know if there will be one if fed overpumped. Maybe we get a slow sideways or slow incline period instead of a slow decline.

In any case, it seems like the great depression and great recession were 1. High volatility dump phase, 2. Sharp relief, 3. Slow period that seemed to have less daily price variance.

I wonder what vix would have been during those low variance days of phase 3. in great depression/recession. Maybe buyint vix puts with dates from 6-12 months out is the right play?

Nobody has any idea what the market is going to do. It's possible the fed just props it up and it is also possible that things get bad, confidence falls, and it dips.
In my opinion it's a higher than normal risk market because it is uncertain. You have the potential to win big or lose big. The winners will obviously say they knew all along what was going to happen but they are just lucky idiots if they think they can predict the future.

Besides the blood. Intestines get inflammed or something like gastritis. Real annoying as it lasts for over a week. Had it for years and all i get is some useless pills that id have to take for life that dont actually do anything because it doesnt treat the underlying issue, the anxiety and stress.

No tp or cleaning products on the shelves. Events unpaid, mortgages suspended, car loan payments missed, credit card payments missed.

If they didn't keep the bond market / mortgage market / banks moving, then instead everyone would be saying "why didn't the Fed do anything?"

It's very easy to criticize them, especially normies and /pol/ types will gobble it up because they have no understanding of how the financial system works,
The system is still functioning properly because the Fed took the proper actions at the proper times. Could they have achieved the same thing with a few hundred billion dollars less or more? sure.
By the way, the amount currently on their balance sheet (I think that is what you are referring too with the 25% GDP) was not all added in the past week...

now there could be some dietary reason, or it could all be in your head

Just keep your dosage low, and try different things until it feels right

His stock price keeps a climbing higher even with the virus shat. His divvy is safe and well covered from getting the ax. He is giving the virus the middle finger. Why don't you just let Him save you now while you still got a chance and let His fat divvy keep you warm and content during your golden retirement years. The only thing this does is give money to the ultra rich bankers who know how to abuse the system with special access and us peons are left with a worthless dollar. All these banks should be restructured and new laws preventing the same shit that we ALREADY DID IN 2008 FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. But no.

well some of the parts of your post are rather generalized

But conceptually I do agree that there is too much asset price inflation. But that is something that should be countered on the ride back up, not when stocks are crashing and unemployment is spiking.
I think that the Fed is listening to people saying what you're saying, but most of the burden is on federal and state governments to set up the "rules" of the economy in a certain way, to increase competition and things like that.
The fed is supposed to keep the money flowing at as even a rate as they can, and they did a better job in 2020 than in 0809 (so far)

Yes, SHOULD. But we already did this rodeo in 2008 and they didn't do shit on the way back up and now its got us here, in the same spot, but worse.

What are they going to do? Make foreclosure illegal? Make firing people illegal? Indefinite universal basic income? Free loans forever? Who pays for it? How long will that last? Until every dollar is worthless and every peasant is starving?

Well a bit of bad and good news. Since march 20th to today Ky went from 63 cases to now 248 of the virus. The good news if you will is that just 5 people have died. So still very lucky compared to over states. It's now in the low 70's so hopefully it'll stay that way for a while and maybe stem the virus spread or outright kill it.
