Yes, you can make contributions to your retirement accounts that count toward the prior year's taxes, up until the normal April tax filing deadline. Partly because oil has zero momentum other than snibby shuffle at moment and partly because the leaf ETF i was using remained oddly buoyant despite the drop in prices today. My etf was only down 1% vs the crude price down 4%ish. It's a little more complicated than just that difference but there is an arbitrage situation there. Anyway, i took money and ran. All cash again now.
