>Been paying into 401k for two years
>Build it up to almost 10k, now it’s at 6.8k

For real, should I just withdraw this shit and stop contributing? I understand you’re not supposed to time the market, but Christ almighty...

Hahah bro I just graduated college and have 9k in mine. Guess what it’s wore less now but now I own a few grand in crypto and am loading as the market collapses.

Stop being a fag hahahaha thinking 4K is a lot.

Isn't it better to have stocks lower now so you can buy more, then when you're ready to cash out your 401k it's worth more?

What the fuck are you faggots talking about?

I’m not trying to brag, nor do I care what your balances are. I’m literally asking if I should cash the shit out bc the amount is so minuscule and you douche nozzles think I’m naive to the fact that it’s not a lot of money.

Set it and forget it. If you want to feel like you have some amount of control over it log in to your account and see if you can set percentages on your investment types. Otherwise who fucking cares what it's at just keep putting money in and ignore it until you are old.

>should I lock in my market losses, while also paying extra taxes and penalties?
Absolutely. It's the ultimate Sell Low play. When the market recovers then you can Buy High like a true player.

This stupid mentality is why you will stay poor. You have already seen a large decline what the fuck is the point of pulling out now and crystallising the loss. I assume you are young based on how small the values are. You will endure many market cycles, the sp 500 has averaged 10% reuturns over the last 100 years. This is not the end of the world and if it is what good will that 7k do for you.

Your time horizon is 30+ years. Unless you think the stock market will literally never return at ATH, keep it in.

Lol same, just graduated, $9k in crypto after the crash.

Gonna take out a $12k personal loan and buy bitcoin after the next stock market crash (betting BTC will be dragged down with it), and if it doesn't crash before the halving again I'll just buy anyway.

Come back in 5 years and see who is still working. Hint, it's the anons who put money in crypto

You should call your manager and get them to change to a less retarded fund that isn't 100% in stocks, or just swallow all the losses, it's just 10k after all, you will eventually recover the losses (maybe when you're 70 lmao, still, just 10k)
I suggest to switch to another fund that won't take such a big hit during the recession/depression, when the market starts recovering switch to an aggressive fund (or just a s&p500 fund), they say that by losing the 10 best years in the market you lose most of the gains, but by missing the 10 worst days you gain way more due to compounding
And the 10 best days are usually followed by the 10 worst days, as Trump learned after signing that dead cat bounce recently, which means that most of the gains made during those days are lost a few days later
