im gonna repeat the same thing i always repeat in these scenarios with noobs, with legit advice:

look up No Nonsense Forex and LiveTraders on youtube. watch every video, take notes. you're probably in lockdown so you should have plenty of time to do this. NNFX teaches you indicators, LT teaches you naked price action/volume/pattern analysis. that will give you the foundation you need, and you can expand upon it with whatever fits your personality as a trader. have fun!

okay to be more specific, generally the "personality" refers to time frame. do you want to hold stuff for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years? that's what i mean. the longer the time frame, the more important fundamental analysis (FA) is. the shorter the time frame, the more important technical analysis/quantitative analysis (TA/QA) is. that's all i mean.

literally look at what playlists already exist on their channels, and also just sort by most popular to start. other than that, stop being a lazy sack of shit. you have the opportunity of a lifetime here to literally become rich while in your PJ's in your bedroom, and you're complaining about watching some videos and taking notes? really?

you know what, no. go back to whatever shit day job you have, or school. get in more debt, wage slave more. you don't deserve this freedom if you aren't willing to put in the work, even though i graciously offered you the specific tools you need (even though i could have just not told you in the first place, or directed you to some scammer).

Original rkg (rkg #0) was an actual frail and violent female. Decades ago, when the internet was younger, on Usenet.

The anime is keeping with the Manga's original art style, and keep in mind the manga first came out in 1994. If you read the manga then watch the anime you'll notice they're virtually identical image wise, to say nothing of the fact the anime came out in 96 as well so it's literally as old as me lmao.
If you want my personal reasons it's got a fun dumb plot filled with weird or convoluted crimes, a nostalgia factor for me from being one of the first shows I ever saw as a kid, and being one of the easier things to understand while learning Japanese. just so you're aware, i always thought hunter x hunter was dogshit for kids until i came across a video that explained it to me, then i watched it for like 2 weeks straight with the flu (coulda been a mild case of coronavirus last month idk, i wish it was so i could feel safe since my whole family got it and survived it, but who knows. no way to know for sure), marathoned over 150 episodes over a month or so because of this video's explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY3deSWuO58

seriously watch that video, everyone who hasn't watched it before. then watch all of hunter x hunter because it's fucking good. the chimera ant arc is absolutely legendary but you have to get through like 100 episodes to get to it, but it's worth it in an extreme way.

also it is the 5th best selling manga series of all time, given there's almost 100 volumes it's a classic at this point. But it's also directed more towards younger kids which means outside of East Asia it's not nearly as huge since most weebs get the virus as teens.
if you want something for laughs, the creator said 13 years ago he knew how the series would end and the madman is still going. I wonder if he adjusted said ending.

>Is there any validity to leaving a stop order in and bots "seeing" it and going after it or is that all bullshit?

as someone who has researched this extensively: yes they can see them (but not as stops, they just see generic orders), and they probably don't give a fuck about your couple of shares. they care about people putting a metric fuckton of stop loss orders around a very obvious pivot point. THAT is where you see stop loss hunting occur. look at any given chart and consider where the pivot points are, where the obvious "yeah i'd put my stop behind there" points are, where everyone and their mother would probably put their stop. if a ton of people, a ton of orders, wind up there, then MM's will hunt that area to get the large amount of liquidity they need for cheap.

the easiest way to stay safe is to use trailing stops instead of hard stops, but don't use mental stops that will just fuck you because price can move fast. they can't see trailing stops, because the brokerage isn't canceling and recreating a new stop every time the TS moves, it just holds onto it until it gets triggered and then executes it as a market order.

if you want to get real fancy, you'd program a trading bot and have the bot sell at a particular level, essentially having an "invisible" hard stop. you'd have to code it, though, which a lot of people do these days.

the general idea for holding overnight is that you have a much larger stop loss than an intraday trader. that said, stop losses don't trigger overnight, if your stock drops 30% against you then you just get fucked even if you only wanted to risk 1%. it's one of the main advantages of day trading, where stop losses actually work and therefore you can properly manage risk. you also don't get gapping (i.e. the opening price is not guaranteed to be the same as the closing price of the previous day).

Yeah, that's was my second point. If ABC company was down that day and you see a huge floor set up at xx.01-06, you can bet your ass that once you pop that you're going to trigger a bunch of stops on your way down and vice versa with resistances. It's a bit of a mental game and the best thing to do is set your stops away from those points if you can or else not panic sell/fomo in.

Interesting. So basically they just see limit orders and if the cluster is sufficient enough they'll go after it and if your limit order happens to be in the cluster it'll get hit, but generally they're not going after errant limit orders under like 1,000 shares (I don't really ever put on positions much larger than that)? Trailing stops would definitely free up some psychological bandwidth compared to what I do now. I'm pretty damn fast, but it's probably killing me slowly having to sit there and actually be that fast. When I first enter a trade, waiting for it work I'm probably as focused as a human being can possibly be and it's really not good if there's a less mentally stressful alternative that doesn't impact my win rate. I could probably figure out how to code a stop bot. Maybe as a project down the line.

>> No.18039885

So what I'm seeing from other markets is that tomorrow will be a sea of green. We have QE infinity going on, and the markets in the other countries are making a rebound. At this time, it might be safe to say that the unemployment report will not have a major impact. At best, growth in the markets will be reduced significantly but not going into the negatives again.

it's easier to just have a risk:reward ratio of 1:1 or better on every trade. then your stop loss has nothing to do with """""""market structure""""""" but only to do with wherever you get in at. like trading AMD and going $0.20 up and down for a 1:1 trade, betting that it will go down $0.20 before it goes up $0.20 at a particular time of the day like say 10:08AM. you use the available analysis tools to give you better odds than a coinflip, ideally.

>>18039848
>Interesting. So basically...

yeah pretty much.

you should really consider using trailing stops in general, and backtest different multiples of the ATR seeing which works best for whatever stock(s) you trade. my system basically revolves around 1:1 trades with a trailing stop, the trailing stop becomes my positive expectancy (i.e. even if i have a 50% win rate, if im only right half the time, i'd still come out profitable because the trailing stop will shrink my risk in most trades). they're pretty comfy, you can make them as big as you want depending on what sort of risk profile you're working with, idk what your system is. it's generally best to base it off of the ATR though (average true range). it's usually 14 by default, so if you were on the daily time frame it would tell you what the average price range has been over the past 14 days. if on the 1m it would tell you the average amount price has moved per minute over the past 14 minutes.

Ok so we do finally have a long term indication of where things may go from here.
We need to pay attention to QE infinity. If they continue past friday it's a sign that the markets will lock up regardless of their actions and instead we will begin seeing inflation beyond what is reasonable to the slow point (2 to 3 months) at which point it will pop.
If it pops. That's it. Everything goes. It's a mixture of stagflation which gives rise to hyperinflation.

I'm generally operating on 1-minute and 5-minute candles and I'd say half my trades are scalps and the other half are a little longer like up to an hour. Cutting winners too soon tends to be my biggest handicap right now; by a significant margin. No matter how much I beat myself up trying to get myself to hold better, I can't seem to manage it. It's like I self-sabotage. I get a lot of absurdly good R:R trades (I mean absurdly good stuff like 16R fairly regularly) and end up killing them too soon making 10 cents on 80 cent moves and stuff like that. I figure if I could find a more sensible way to get out of my own way I would be on a totally different level. And that's where my curiosity about stops comes from.

I ask myself the questions: are there great opportunities? and answer yes. Are you in those great opportunities and in the right direction? In general, yes. Are you maximizing those opportunities? No. And the reason I think I'm not maximizing those opportunities is because I'm so on edge from the initial stages of the trade where I'm watching my exit like a hawk so I don't get slipped that on some level when it starts to work I just want to be out of it so I can relax. If I could just put in a stop at breakeven once the trade works and then worry about where I want to lighten up my sizing while letting price do its thing or just put a stop in right when I enter the trade and put one in at my target, my trades would play out a lot less stressfully.

ideally you shouldn't "hope". it's a numbers game. it shouldn't be about any 1 trade, it's about 100 or 1000 trades and how you do there. everyone ideally needs to develop a system that gives them an "edge", statistically, on the market, and that is how you make profit.

If you're in to hedge you need to answer 3 simple questions; what's your time horizon, what's your intended profit take+loss cut, and is the expiry date going to be on a volatile week like ER/dividend/external event like fed conference or reports. That's what I do and rather lock in a upper limit of a 20% profit or take a 10-15% loss than leave the price float from 0 to infinity.

The government is injecting trillions of dollars in to fix the stock market. You gotta understand the stock market and reality are not closely related. Stocks can soar while the companies that underpin them are laying off their staff and losing their customers. You seriously think there's going to be a law prohibiting even incredibly obvious scams like buy-backs? This country just blew its load, and we didn't choose to help anyone who is going to get sick, get laid off or get evicted. We choose to save the market. And the market will be saved.

S&P futures are up 4.5% on reports of good market results from ASEAN country markets.
HSI up 4.3% on reports of the QE infinity nuclear option being used.
NIkkei also up 7.4% based on the economic news in anticipation of liquidity from american markets.
Dow futures are up 800 pts on the same reports.
BTCUSD is currently 6597
JPYUSD: 110
EuroUSD: 1.08
And AUD: .59
Stocks are expected to at least start out trading positive tomorrow but uncertainty in the markets indicate QE may have a limited impact. unemployment claims are due out on thursday as is a possible vote on the Bill.
