Silver tarnishes, and there is so goddamn much of it in supply and that we haven't even mined yet. It doesn't even have the image of artificial rarity. It will likely be hundreds more years before we actually get close to mining all the silver the earth has to offer, so it has nowhere near the same rarity as gold.
