I have just graduated college and have 30K saved up.

I want to put this money somewhere safe, where it will at the very least beat inflation and then some.

Reading online seems to show that investing in an index fund is the best option. However, I am kind of paranoid that the next 'market crash' will be within a couple years and I could lose upto half of my money.

Would it be wise to put my money into the highest term deposit account I can find, and then after the market crashes put it into index funds to ride the recovery train?

Or is this fear of a 'crash' unfounded?

No, but you never know when it'll happen.

But who cares if it crashes? Remember the 2008 crash? Even if you had invested right before the crash, you would have still made a profit five years later.

Overall, you're probably better off investing now and holding, as long as you won't need to sell within the next decade or two.

Sounds retarded desu anon. That's what, a 3.3% ROI daily. Not even the best of the best could pull that off consistently. Best of luck to him though
