Best of luck I guess, I'm not entirely sure what's the situation in America, but here in the UK even the Royal Mint of her Majesty is running out of physical silver in their Vaults to sell. They're HODLing like crazy and waiting for the moon pump.

The premiums on silver which you buy in a vault (I am not talking about paper ETFs) are still non-existent or negligible.

Does this argue that there is not really a shortage?

Is there a good reason not to invest in a vault, e. g. government confiscation?

Silver is likely to get further pummelled or stay down in the dumps for quite a few months. It is currently behaving much more like an industrial metal than a monetary metal. I say this as a person with thousands of ounces of silver.

At the moment, platinum looks cheaper than silver. Platinum is also behaving like an industrial metal and has been beaten to a pulp. Historically, platinum sells for about twice the price of gold. It's current price is about half the price of gold. That means that if the price ratios revert and gold doesn't crash in price, platinum should go up 4x in the future.

Time and time again, gold and silver have shown that they fit the bill perfectly, as they can help Americans avoid the volatility of equities, while still having growth potential. Paper cash holdings have never been more vulnerable, especially when held in a virtual setting such as a bank account. The constant erosion of the dollar's purchasing power, coupled with the increase in cyber attacks, means that your holdings in "paper" or digital form are less secure than if they are resting in the form of a tried-and-true physical asset, whose intrinsic value is never put into question.

At the very start of this panic before the price fell through the previous normal floor of around $14.50 they could be had for $16 or so, there was always a $1-$2 premium on ASE.

Because theres a huge amount of "paper silver" on the market that doesnt have physical silver to back it up. Thats whats being dumped as people rush to get out of fake silver and into dollars.
That crashed the spot price. But at the same time theres a huge rush on physical silver, especially ASE as theyre seen as the best type of silver coin to hodl. So the spot price has completely decoupled from the real physical price.
Also, dealers dont want to sell at a loss, so if they bought the ASE for over current spot they have no reason to sell them. But demand is so high they can now charge more than what they bought it for, and theyre still selling out.
People are very nervous about the dollar so theyre rushing to hold physical metals. This is the exact scenario where metals become relevant, when usually they stagnate.
If you have bullion you bought for under $20, you stand to make 2-3x or more when it moons. Maybe much much more.

So buying eagles for 20 to 22 right now is better than regular rounds for 15 to 16 bucks an ounce? I have other stuff but never got into PM's just the few gold coins I inherited (nothing much) and always delayed getting into PMs.

If silver moons but you think the USD is not going to collapse/hyperinflate, cash out and move the money into a longer term investment. Gold is an option, since gold is far less volatile.

>>17898926
Theres a reason that eagles are wiped out right now at over $20. People have faith in them as a potential currency. Same for any american mint junk silver. IF you want to hedge against total collapse in the most secure way, you hold eagles and american mint coins.
When you try to buy a chicken off of me in 2024 after the great reckoning and you throw down a round with a chinese mark on it, i'll laugh at you.
However if you want to cash out your silver for its weight value at your LCS at the peak market, it may work to your advantage to hold whatever you can get.
I personally expect $50 silver minimum within 2-3 years, so i feel ASE at $20 are a good price. I wouldnt go above that, but the individual chooses his buy in point based on his assessment of the market.

A wise move if you just want to hold value in uncertain economic times. Unfortunately they're so busy they wont ship your gold for 2-3 weeks either.
I'm waiting on a call from my LCS to go pick up 5 1/10oz coins. They dont have any gold anymore and they're expecting a small shipment and wont let me reserve more than that, wont let a single customer buy them out. Nice people, but frustrating.
