In the event of serious economic downwards spirals, nobody has enough actual money to weather storms like this, because the idea of regular citizens having more than the absolute bare minimum (sometimes less than an actual survival wage) is considered "socialist". The floor with which our present markets stand on is made out of neatly painted balsa wood and styrofoam, and it's stood solid because nothing has disturbed it. Suddenly you apply pressure to it and you see how quickly it collapses, and now people are trying to blame everything except for the people who formed it this way and didn't leave any precautions. All that a war will do is kill countless people and further destroy the already fragile economic ecosystem, but due to the fact that all of the military industrial complex is centered around a small number of developers and contractors, the money will not find itself in the hands of the average working citizen in what used to be pseudo-total war scenarios, meaning that there will be no spending on local markets, which means no upwards growth, which means no economic growth, leading to the continual downward spiral we have now, only it will be dramatically worse because we'll have spent so much effort on bombing already poor people with weapons we can't afford to simply patch up our own fucking roads and start encouraging the bottom line to move upwards.
