>>17865427making it anon
>>17865706Yea, if customs smell the silver they will tax you to death. The EU is also planning to to get rid of the "under 22 EUR" exception.
>>17865458>its bound to catch up with the actual priceWhy is that?
>>17865506fucking retard, the gold is from early 20th century Switzerland. 20F Swiss/French are some of the most common gold bullion around
>>17866211Cool, imma look into it
Is there a reason people buy weird and/or obscure and/or old coins? I always just buy straight from my national mint, they come with a certificate and receipt, they look shiny and new, they are legal tender where I live and they have the amount of silver used on the coins themselves. They’re always a bit over the spot price but only somewhat. What possible benefit could there be to NOT doing this?
>>17866337for modern bullion coins I'd recommend the philharmonic. I bought a bunch last year and they are impressive coins (better than eagles or buffaloes imo). I also have krugerrands and pandas in my stack. I personally avoid all coins with reptilian shapeshifters or religious mottos on them
>>17864735
>>17866764Why would you avoid those? They don't hold their value that well?
>>17866694I hold a lot of "Junk" silver US coins.pre 1964 dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollar coins are 90% silver.I hold them because they are well known and recognizable US currency, and it is known that they are silver with a year date before 1965, and in the event of an economic crisis that doesnt devolve into total violent anarchy people MAY accept them in trade, either pegged to the fiat value of the 90% silver content in a hyperinflation scenario, OR post violent collapse when things stabilize a bit but before there is a central government currency, people may go back to bartering with small silver coins. historically a silver dime was one day's unskilled labor for most of human history, so it should have a reasonable barter value.I avoid coins from non US or British or other well known mints, because people will be suspicious if theyve never seen the coin and cant verify it. Same reason "rounds" are generally a poor choice IMO - no government mint ever stood behind it and the designs can be very weird.
>>17867070Okay I take your point but all things being equal isn’t newer better? Maybe this is a cultural difference or something, but where I live (Worst Korea) people would much more trust a 2018 silver coin with a face value only slightly lower than the value of the metal with a cert of authenticity and so on. than a decades old coin that nobody knows where it’s been etc.If it was me in America, I’d be inclined to go for American Eagles the US Mint made last year, that you can prove where they’re from, they’re new they’re shiny etc.Again maybe there’s something different about the culture there and how people look at coins that explains your preference.
>>17865487>let me trade you this one acre parcel of land for that there big mac ur berry retarded, anon. berry retarded.
>>17865487fucking low IQ brainlet detected.
>>17867350Its absolutely a national/cultural difference thing. In the USA many people are aware that our old coins were silver, and like i said they came in various small sizes which can be useful for trade if you dont want to hand over a full ounce. If you give someone a 1930 quarter, they will know it is silver. If you give someone a 2018 "round" that is stamped with Darth Vader or something stupid (many such cases) who fucking knows what it really is? Eagles are very desirable but they are currently sold out AND you pay a premium on eagles that you dont usually pay on "junk".
>>17865771Almost all metals look exactly like silver. Zinc is silver, nickel is silver, silver is silver. It's fucking useless.
Not much but it's mine.
>>17867651OK. Have fun using fake fiat goy bucks as kindling this winter.
>>17867350its kind of the difference between "Numismatic" value coins and "Bullions" coins. unless your coins is high grade and graded by a recognized grading company and certified, all that, then none of these shiny new American silver Eagles is worth more than the equivalent amount of silver in old cull coins, or,. the price of spotbullion stacking and numismatic coins two different worlds

I don't know what's going on but I collect us constitutional junk silver coins in europe and I can tell prices aren't dropping. People are still buying liberty half dollars for 9€ these days even thought spot price tanked. Numismatic value making up for silver losses?

>>17864735stack is buried. but thanks to you faggots, it weighs 50lbs. see you on the other side.
>>17867046it's not a value issue, purely my own autism
>>17867742Maybe this turns into a sort of philosophical question, but here people will be more likely to buy newer coins with a certificate because it “seems” more certain to be authentic silver to prospective buyers. And because this culture of buying new and flawless goods of ANY kind is already well established, people would look suspiciously at old coins especially if there’s not an obvious reason why you are in possession of them. People would be inclined to assume they’re phony or clipped somehow etc. so new coins are more likely to be trusted for their bullion value.

>>17879294just because historically gold to silver ratio was lower doesn't mean it'll be so in the future. Silver is done. The only reason it was ever used as a monetary metal was because there wasn't enough gold for everyday use. Once gold backed paper money was created silver became unneeded as money. Now that paper money isn't even gold back, silver is even more useless. It still has value as an industrial commodity but it will never be used as money. Expect to see the gold/silver ratio continue to go up.

>>17881245I notice its just stock holders who rationalize their bad investment by saying “well its worthless in a collapse anyways!”. In reality, they just want to hold onto their buy and hold 401k retirement dreams. Gold/silver always the place to be, but i dont see anything better to buy right now. Unless youre a day trader or something. In which case, get a life lol.
>>17878260good stack, broWish I could have even 3oz of gold. I have no idea when it will be too late to buy but I hope I still have enough time to pick up some by summer
This is worse than shitcoin tier
>>17881244ANSWER ME, PLEASE!!
>>17881342I wasn't in the market but I know if I was I would have sold months ago. I think the best strat would be alternating between gold and mutual funds. I don't have any gold either at the time but I'm looking to get in as spot price keeps declining.I already bought some more ammo and got as much food as they have available here. Time to protect some of my monetary wealth.
>>17881245I'm not talking about a post-apocalyptic scenario with raider gangs roamming the wasteland. in that case ammo, food, water (and medicine) would be the best bet like you said, and yes I have stockpiles of all of the above.gold is a luxury item. it's a vanity metal. it's only valuable if all basic necessities in society are taken for granted. silver on the other hand has genuine value in a situation where the economy has suffered a major disaster and the country is rebuilding just to ensure basic functionality.if you're not planning for some level of disaster then why the fuck are you hoarding physical metal in your home in the first place?
>>17881481If you're not going to buy 1oz coins or rounds and want something bigger then buy 10oz bars or something like that.
>>17878472cringe, yikes, yawn & oof
>>17881522Thank you.I went for the 1oz coins.
>>17881514Gold is an excellent conductor and used in plenty of electronic components.Silver is antimicrobial (but how do you even take advantage of that application) and....?
>>17881509I would be looking to diversify internationally if i had any money to speak of. Lots of people buy real estate only in their country, for example. Im not going to act like im by any means an expert. But if the US dollar isnt going to maintain its status as the world reserve currency, i would think of implications that would arise and maybe play off of that.
>>17881628the housing bubble is unfortunately worldwideexcept maybe africa. I don't know anything about the african real estate market.
>>17881514Because its safer than the market right now especially.
>>17881672Ive seen this to be true as well. I was looking in southeast asia for a cheap cost of lviing and figured i might as well stay with my mom.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_foreign-exchange_reservesI would rank these nations from biggest economy to lowest dollar holdings, those would be the ones best prepared for this situation.

The amount of silver fudders ITT is pretty remarkable.Keep seething FEDIDF and cryptocucks, physical silver alrdy started it's moon mission and the singularity is about to hit hard once normies figure out paper silver can't keep real silver price suppressed anymore. Since every stores are out of stock we alrdy see silver going for absurdly high prices on ebay lmao.not reading, not selling.

>>17881569>Gold is an excellent conductor and used in plenty of electronic components.guess which metal is even better and much more widely used for that exact purpose
Baby stack. Been on the lookout for silver coins for a minute. Got a couple when I had an odd job at a convenience store. My autism super power is that I can hear if a silver coin is present if someone drops a mixed handful of change on a counter.
>>17882033>>17882034Except silver and copper, the 2 better conductors, tarnish- so gold needs to be used as plating to prevent this.
>>17882135so then why would you negate their widespread use, and say>Silver is antimicrobial (but how do you even take advantage of that application) and....?implying that its essentially useless (its not)
>>17881628>Lots of people buy real estate only in their country, for example.Do you own RE? Because there's several reasons for that. Good luck dealing with foreign tax laws, trusting a management company that is likely to scam you, paying for plane tickets annually just to keep on top of things, selecting good tenants without grasp of the culture, dealing with a completely foreign court system once inevitably some aspect of the deal goes to shit... unless you're at the net-worth level where you can have a trusted lawyer travel around for you, it's probably not worth it as an investment.

Why ASE's over other coins? Anyway how low do you guys think silver will go?
> all the UK dealers stopped selling todayAnd so... it... begins...
>>17883195Using history as a guide, silver and gold declined almost 30% in the financial crisis before shooting up to their ATH.My delivery is coming today so going to do a /biz/ unboxing on what I got when that arrives.
>>17884826Also forgot about the first question. ASE have the backing of the US government which carries premium and if you live in the US like I do, it will have far better credibility than some random coin/bar since it is legal tender in the country and it has counterfeiting protection since that is the case, although that hasn't stopped chinks from trying a while back. Not saying other coins and bars aren't worth considering but it is just different from that standpoint, I actually like bulk 100oz bars more but I am getting a fair amount of ASEs soon in case.

for the record, and i know 4chin threads are archived: i have no silver or gold stacks. i'm a poorfag. i only own some wheat pennies, some toilet paper, and ramen packets. keep calm and curry on.

>>17887318sad but tru.silver is only there for speculation, gold and bitcoin are the only true reserve commodity-money hedges against hyperinflation
I live in a smallish town in flyover america. I went to my local coin/pawn today. They immediately said they had no gold or silver.I got to talking and showed them i had a huge stack of cash and walked out with their last roll of eagles for $400. I feel that was a fantastic deal given current market if you can even find them is $25+ and youre waiting for shipping.
>>17887417>Bitcoin loses 50% value in one month>true reserve commodity-money hedgehow is it any different from silver at this point? youre expecting it to moon, just like silver probably will when fiat starts to completely collapse.
This is my retarded lunch money stack of "unconventional" investments. The storage box to the right of the open one is also full with more scotch but I cba to open it as I've tried to seal it well, and there's nothing very special in there

>>17883120Mr. Schiff, quick question, what next?I mean, ok, I have this nice stack here and silver price will, inevitably, explode.. but what next?Should I sell it? Should I trade it for gold? Should I wait until we go back to a gold/silver standard?I understand the rational for acquiring silver and gold, but what next? How do I transform these beautiful shiny and valuable rocks into actual things I wanna buy (a house, nice food, etc)? Also, these last few years redpilled me on investments/savings too much. I think I'll always have part of my savings in physical precious metals.
>>17885917>>17885953>>17886060>>17886097>>17886125>>17886155Based.
silver spot was down to $12 this morningeveryone is sold out of bullion and i cant buy anymoredammit
>>17888020Well now thats the million dollar question isnt it?"When do I cash out, when do I hold?"People who cashed out on silver in 2012 at the peak made a killing. People who expected the dollar to collapse and held got wiped if they bought high. The trick is to buy low, so if you miss the peak by holding too long you arent a sucker who loses huge value. This is why so many people are angery at silver, because they were suckers who bought near the peak expecting a moon when the rocket was already past TLI. If you think the dollar will recover and we'll go back to business as usual, sell your metals when youre seeing a profit that makes you happy. If you think the system is doomed and dying before your eyes and you want to hold wealth afterwards in the new paradigm, hold. Thats my take on it.
>>17887546>paying $8/oz premiumooof
YOUR BOOMER ROCKS JUST LOST ONE THIRD OF THEIR VALUE JUUUUST FUCK YOUR SHIT UP HAHAHAHA
test. for some reason couldn't reply earlier.exposing your silver to air and light is bad, innit
>>17888110I think we will go back to "normal" eventually, but the price of silver will take many years to come back to the lows we have enjoyed for the last couple of years.
>>17885917Anon your tracking number will tell everyone the destination it was mailed to...
>>17888110Thank you.I'll hold it.I live in Europe so trading this trying to catch the top when it moons will be difficult. There are no pawn shops where I live (hence why I buy everything online), there's only one bank where I can go to sell my precious metals but I need to open an account with them and they'll only buy after they tested the precious metals which takes time, I also don't want to resell back to the brokers from whom I bought because they'll buy way below spot.. so, trying to catch the top is stupid in my case.I might as well just hold on to this as an inssurance against fiat eventually collapsing in my life-time and we get back on a gold/silver standard.
>>17888253>>17888234I expect silver to moon within the next two years, maybe much sooner. That was the 08-12 pattern.Depending on other indicators i'll know weather to sell for fiat or hold for total collapse. Either way i'm not hurt at all by buying at $20. I had way more cash in my pocket and they just didnt have any more silver. Not poor, not worried.>>17888236BTC down 50% in one week tho, so uhh gg i guess.
>>17888103Don’t worry, silver won’t help you when you’re sick in isolation
>>17888253The dollar has lost 99% of its value already. This isn't a crash like the dot com bubble or the 2008 one. This time the FED has no more options.I do believe we will have a new monetary system in our life times. When that will happen I don't know. Will it be a crypto currency backed by gold and silver I also don't know. But I don't think this fake and gay currency can keep going on for much longer. All countries around the world printing like crazy because all currencies are pegged to the dollar so if the FED prints more money all central banks around the world also have to print more money.I do think that gold and silver will be used to revalue the dollar.
>>17888353If you bought silver when it was below $17 you should be fine, I think it will top out at about $70-$80 per oz; Fiat is a lot more vulnerable now then it was in 08.
>>17888294Within a neighborhood, it gives out city and zip code, I'm fine with that especially since I'm in the middle of one of the hotspots of coronavirus outbreaks. Good luck trying to find me while risking your life. And the shipping status is gone by 4 months.>>17888353Silver went down 30% along with gold so with the highs that were reached, Assuming the $19 high, the price to buy it at is essentially now where it is at.
>>17888416I'm not disagreeing, though I'm not certain they will go back to gold/silver backed currency. I have a feeling they will try and do some sort of new even more Jewish system.
>>17888353>>17888425silver is not going anywhere because it's mostly an industrial metal, and with the depression were headed into it will be worth less in the next few years
>>17888425I'm expecting at least $50/oz. >>17888459Silver and gold collapsed in 08 and then mooned. I bought between $14-20, averaged in. I'll make a great return if it goes even to $40, or ill hold as the entire global financial system collapses. Either way, the money i spent on silver wasnt crucial to me because I have money to burn desu.
>>17888353The thing that most of you probably don't consider is that "collapse" doesn't have to be an apocalyptic scenario where everyone eats beans, rice and tuna for 3 months and we trade silver coins for water.A "collapse" can very well be just the admission that pure fiat currencies are a mistake and that we must go back to a gold/silver standard. The "collapse" can very well be just changing the monetary system. The monetary system changed in 71 and there was no bogaloo scenario.
>>17888512Pretty much my plan, my dad used laughed at me for hoarding silver; I'm not happy about being validated though :(
>>17888519I understand that quite well. the PM game is a hedge against a wide spectrum of possible outcomes.
>>17888573Precisely.I'm in this for the 'changing of the monetary system' scenario, not for the 'we are all starving scenario'.
I found a seller willing to sell 1000 oz of silver at 14.50 an oz but there is a 4 month back order. Is there any reason why waiting 4 months is a bad idea?
>>17888609But do you think we will all be starving?
>>17889450The supplier who's promising to fill that order may cancel, and you'll get your money refunded at some point, but that money will have been locked up and unable to be used for other things. Opportunity cost essentially.>>17889485One should take reasonable precautions against such a scenario prior to playing with metals.Often you'll see people on 4chan saying "lol silver and gold fags should have bought guns, bullets and food" well, theyre not wrong, but the two arent mutually exclusive at all.
>>17889485I don't know, fren.
>>17887546kek
>>17887156Silver is dead. I say this as I hold hundreds of Oz. I'm selling mine because of the current high demand for a premium. Get out while you can
