With proper socialist medical practices (like cuba and the dprk) even less advanced medical systems could handle it easily. But because capitalist for-profit systems are corrupt and proped up on dreams and wishes the moment anything unexpected happens they shit themselves, and the moment a crisis begins the government moves to protect the market before its own people.

Problems such as this are inevitable. While the virus is somethign that should be seriously delt with it is nowhere near as big an actual hit on the production potential of the nation as has been reflected in these markets.
