I've heard its to curb abuse by people who are "pedophiles" and use the web for their sick purposes.

We need to research this ASAP, other cities and states have also been passing various gun control legislation as well.

Corona is real but they certainly aren't letting a good crisis go to waste are they?

Is this good for us against the pedos? Or are they trying to shut us the fuck down under the guise of stopping child predators?

This will shut down sites like google, Facebook, leftist media, youtube from arbitrary removing and censoring content they don't like.

But if it's being legislated by democrats watch out.

My thoughts exactly but it seems "bi-partisan" but we know that almost doesn't exist. Too many neo-cons and liberals that don't care about freedom and not enough patriots

how do you figure that? their section 230 protection is only forfeited if they don't comply with the government that they propagandize for on a daily basis. seems unlikely.

It's always in the name of stopping pedophilia.

Protip: it has nothing to do with curbing child abuse, it's just to tighten government grip on the internet.

Honestly Facebook, google and the rest already stretch the shit out of those 230 protections with their editorializing. I'm all for forcing them to some standards for them to keep their protections, but not in this way and under the banner of "think of the children" again.

Specifically, because all the damn bill does is say "we'll come up with arbitrary standards that all sites must follow to keep their 230 protections". This does nothing to fight child abuse. Child abuse is already illegal and the affected sites already crack down on it.
