The closer to spot price the better. Silver is at $14.55. Most ASEs are $19 or $20, meaning there is a 5-6 dollar premium on them. But, they are backed by the US Mint, instantly recognizable and widely circulated so there is no way people won't agree to transactions with them.

You can buy silver at $16 and only have a $1.50 premium but there won't be the brand recognition that ASEs have. Still, buying close to spot is a good thing because you save money on large orders and it's all elemental .999 pure silver at the end of the day anyway.

I understand that. I just wanted to point out, that the ETF itself is based on physical metal and not only on derivatives. This makes it more stable against market shenanigans and in a semi worst case, it would still be possible to get something out of it. Of course it's not as save as physical and it's more expensive than only paper based. I think it's a good compromised to only wait a few weeks / months / years until the corona stuff bottoms out.
