Difficulty adjustment happens every 2016 blocks, which is about 3 weeks at the current hasrate. If hasrate suddenly drops it will take exponentially longer to adjust the difficulty. Which means someone has to keep mining 2 weeks after the halving,
Which means the miners will have to pay $100 million in mining costs and only get 1/10 of that in return, not knowing if or when the price come back up. No one is doing that. The next difficulty adjustment will never be reached with these prices.
