Honestly you people laugh at toilet paper hoarders, but you really dont have enough toilet paper yourselves. The average person uses 1 roll per day. If you have a family of 4, that's 28 rolls a week. Over 100 a month. TP rolls will be worth their weight in gold in a few months, because everyone needs it.

This is incredibly bullish for the economy. INCREDIBLY. Once things slow down in a week or so, the USA is going to RAMP UP production on EVERYTHING. The Virus has exponential growth of 20%+ per day without containment measures. That means cases doubles every 4 days or quadruple every week. We are less than 2 weeks away from reaching Italy's numbers.

The only solution is to shut everything down for a few months and have blanket testing available. People have not realized this, or fully priced it in. Markets are implying this will blow over in a few months with some money printing here and there.

Once boomers have to stay home for the first time, they will stare at their 401Ks instead of working and there might be a very sharp selloff over the course of a few weeks.

>> No.17813148

Stop using the empty supermarket shelves as an indicator of anything.

1) Stores barely keep any back stock on hand. It’s not a warehouse behind those floppy doors. It’s more like a long crowded hallway.
2) Most things get delivered once or twice a week.
3) Orders are made far ahead of time up in the supply chain. The panic buying just happened on Friday. Even if your local Kroger paid $6000 for an expedited team driver truck to deliver straight from the factory to store (which isn’t how it works), it wouldn’t have arrived yet.
4) The boomer preppers easily wiped out the meager amounts of dry bulk like flour, rice, beans, etc. Stores order based on NORMAL demand, not one idiot buying half the stock. Somewhere in your town, two old people have 25 lbs each of rice and beans. They won’t manage to eat it before they die of old age.
5) The grocery chains are not going to do anything at all to stock the shelves quicker. Transportation costs cut into their already small margins.
6) If the shelves were magically stocked again, the boomers would come back and buy that too because they are retarded.

You’ll know there’s an ACTUAL supply chain issue if restaurants have to close due to lack of ingredients. The fact that certain things are sold out at the grocery store and yet the McDonalds out front functions perfectly fine is an indicator that everything is working as normal. We just experienced some abnormal behavior from certain panicky old fucks.

You’re misunderstanding me. Most THINGS get delivered once or twice per week. They receive a whole variety of things throughout the week. But they do not get daily all-purpose flour deliveries. They have to stock an entire supermarket that also sells clothes, cosmetics, toys, office supplies, flowers, etc. with limited receiving hours, dock space, and manpower to stock shelves.

Again, they are not going to do anything special to stock low margin slow moving staples that usually don’t get panic bought.

Yeah pretty much 100% correct lad. I've worked in both the Distribution Centres and inside stores (Not as a worker inside a supermarket, but working within the supermarket company doing a variety of things)

>1) Stores barely keep any back stock on hand. It’s not a warehouse behind those floppy doors. It’s more like a long crowded hallway.
Basically. What you see is what you get on the shelves. They do keep a lot of dry goods out on roll cages in the back for night time replenishment, and the freezers are usually full of food for the next day or two to restock.

>2) Most things get delivered once or twice a week.
Yeah basically. Most stores will usually fill up their back docks for night time/next day replenishment, but don't stock up a week ahead, there's no room.

>3, 4
Correct.

>5) The grocery chains are not going to do anything at all to stock the shelves quicker. Transportation costs cut into their already small margins.
The only thing that would be increased would be the amount of food going on the pallets from the DC's. Instead of a typical 300 item order, it'll blow out to about 500 items. Just a typical Christmas run. Aldi here usually has about 13000 average cases of cold goods going out every day, this doesn't include freezer. Freezer is about 7000 cases. This has probably blown out to around 30,000. But other than that, the trucks are still going to do the same usual run.

>6)
This.

So to sum it up with what this bloke was saying, supermarkets operate on demand, everything is already calculated in the system. This crisis has caught that system off guard.

To anyone panicking, the Distribution Centres are alwaaays full of food, trust me. it's really hard as fuck to drain those things. Even during the peak of Christmas. Food just kept on coming out of nowhere, the warehousing racks were always packed full. Sometimes I believed they just magically appeared there.

AMA if you wish to know more about this 'supermarket crisis'.

Less packaging, shipping, time spent packing and shipping, time spent buying the inventory, and the inevitable unsellable inventory. I’d say these retards are on track to make barely anything at all.

In a cruel, poetic twist of fate, they will have a pallet of toilet paper in the garage next to their body wraps, jewelry, candles, essential oils, sex toys, supplements, and diet shakes leftover from previous great money making opportunities.

my concern is being able to get fresh meat since that is basically all I eat and don't have an extra freezer to stock up. Will there still be steady supply of beef?

>Will there still be steady supply of beef?
Depends on the conditions of your country, I'm from Australia and we recently had a long drought followed by biblical rain which has done us very well.

It's hard to say with beef (or any animal product) as I've never seen a crisis where animal products have been drained. So right now, farmers could be killing off the same number of animals as they always have been over the past few years, but during a crisis, they may need to kill off a lot more to keep keep up with demand, which in turn, could leave a bit of a gap since they've killed off most of their live stock, and have to wait for the new stock to grow.

So for example - Instead of killing 300 cows per week, I may kill 900 to keep up with the demand, but then that further drains my supply of cows because I wasn't prepared, and all of a sudden if the demand keeps up for a long time, my supply will be fucked since those smelly fuckers take a while to grow, and it'll take a while to rebuild those numbers.

Have something else, chicken is great, season it with Moroccan spice. Trust me, it goes well lad. It makes it edible days after.

makes sense. yeah I eat lamb, chicken, fish, dairy an so forth. I just need most my food to be red meat and fat otherwise I don't feel as good.
that being said, I'd eat other food if it was for survival

I don't even bother wearing a mask in public and never wash my hands. Despite this I've almost never been sick. I've even licked door knobs during flu season and haven't even experienced a single sneeze. When I was a child and wanted to get free food I would pick up gold fish crackers covered in mud and eat them. This would disgust my peers but my mother never bought me any tasty treats so that was the only way.

I'm convinced this has turned me invincible. I wear shorts in the middle of winter and don't even cough. I pound 10 cloves of garlic with 1/2 a litre of lemon juice a day. On top of that I drink a cup of my piss every morning and fast most of the day. I've had people sneeze directly into my face, with particles of spit landing on me yet I've never experienced even the mildest of flu-like symptoms weeks later. If you're affected by the Corona virus, you're weak and deserve to perish. I cannot die...I'M FUCKING INVINCIBLE. STUPID FUCKING BOOMERS AND HOARDERS. YOU CANNOT BEAT ME. I AM THE APEX PREDATOR! HOARDING ALL THAT TOILET PAPER? USELESS! USELESS! USELESS! I WIN THEY FUCKING LOSE! THAT'S HOW THE FUCKING WORLD WORKS...WHEN YOU LOOK UP...YOU SEE A FACE LIKE MINE LOOKING DOWN ON YOU!
