> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
Jewish tricks? No, and please refrain from the antisemitism! Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.

> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
Are you aware how small this community is? Better to try stocktwits or r/wallstreetbets

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

>How do I git gud?
People here are gambling, don't listen to any advice in this thread. Do, follow news, earnings reports, and stay away from leveraged etfs, also learn difference between LIMIT and MARKET orders!!!

After hours are available to a certain traders. Thats not really that important. What counts is tomorrows pre-market.

After a surge like this its likely that PIP will gap up by double digits%. From there it could start falling but it very well could continue to rise..

It has room for more left seeing as it has never been trading this low in the past 5 years or so. Thats why i was certain that it was a steal at $0.5.

People shit on this thread but sift through all the bullshit and you'll find two or three missions a week on average. Sometimes you'll have two missions in a day or it'll be a drought week. But it happens enough to capitalize on.

Intel's stagnation, they are not responding to having a competitor with new architecture at all, meaning amd can probably grab a decent chunk of cpu marketshare.

I'm not comfortable starting a position in amd at these prices but definitely keep holding for a bit if you're still in imo, AMD was once relatively dominant in the CPU department but started to lag behind terribly after the mid 2000s creating more and more revenue issues.

This won't repeat itself unless intel gets serious and can figure out how to break the thermal limits in modern processors, right now an overclocked intel i5 from 2011 is only about 10% slower than a modern one, it's complete stagnation that is allowing amd to pick up marketshare despite lagging behind in R&D for a decade

The big problem for semiconductors is that advancement has slowed in the past ten years, moores law is coming to an end and eventually the industry as a whole will have to take on quantum computing/ a replacement of binary or it will continue to stagnate, turning it from a major growth sector to something more stable like ford etc over the next few decades as a necessity but without the real potential to boom, Intels stagnation is because they have advanced far enough to reach that point before AMD and they don't have a solution for it yet. Why buy a new intel processor when one from six years ago works nearly the same? AMD will hit that wall very soon if they are competing with intel

GPUs will be similar as they get closer and closer to the 5nm mark where a solution for quantum tunneling will have to be found, whoever figures out a solution for these problems first be it IBM intel or AMD will be the winner and should have a huge advantage in the market.

I think the market as a whole has great room to grow for another 5-10 years but after that it's questionable if these problems aren't figured out, AMD definitely has the largest potential to grow their marketshare and profit margin at the moment. NVDA is nice but they've already made it big, AMD is in position to grab a lot of money from both them and intel if they play their cards right, I think a lot of this is already priced in but if intel doesn't do something and the rx 490 turns out to be a hit/competitively priced, it wouldn't shock me to see amd at 16-18 six months from now.

They're making a new public offering less than a month after a 1 for 30 reverse split just to remain listed, and 2016 was a bad year for solar. Not surprising that it's taking a while to win investors over.

Anyone know what effect block trades have on a stocks price?

Today, a stock I hold that's dropped like 30% in the last couple months had an investment firm bought up 5%+ of the company at a set price. So the stock dropped 3% and traded at that same price all day. It's a record 3-year low for this stock too.

Does anyone know what this means for prices? Will it just go on like nothing happened or will that huge purchase drive up the price?

It was some obscure value/ contrarian hedge fund if that matters. They filed with the SEC stating the had no intention of going for an M&A or even a seat on the board of directors.

Wondering if I should buy more or just keep bag-holding, basically.

It very clearly says that Altimmune will be given equity such that they have 51.4% of the equity in the new company, and PIP holders will hold 48.6% of the equity.

There may or may not be a reverse split depending on the price of the PIP shares.

SDLP - What is going on? $3.95->4.67 in 5 days since this article saying bail now:

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/game-205937812.html

Cash distribution imminent:
This cash distribution will be paid on or about February 14, 2017 to all unitholders of record as of the close of business on February 7, 2017.

I predict it will keep going up over the next few days.

Damn, so glad I sold SDRL and all those other off-shore drillers when I did. Now my dumb ass is bagholding on-shore drillers and now it's too late.

I'd sell that shit if you're holding. Nobody wants those drill ships for another 10-20 years. Oil prices are only artifically high and conventional/shale can easily bring down prices before new off-shore projects are economically feasible.

Meaning they'll be ripped the fuck off when they go to liquidate their fleet, along with you.

Possibly because some crazy Wall Street bad-asses feel like either the debt will be renewed on favorable terms, or SDRL will be purchased outright by another, larger oil company.

SDRL has a lot of seriously nice sea-drills and everyone knows it and those will be very useful in the distant future. So either a peer competitior may buy them and their debt outright or XOM or somebody will. There is much talk of A&M about oil firms lately,

Personally I'd stay away. But I don't like loosing money. For all we know they'll sell their 6th generation ships for fucking scrap.

If I was looking for a longer term investment I would buy Exxon, wait for Rex Tillerson to drop the sanctions so their $500 billion deal in Russia can go through. Try to sell it before demand decreases too much from alternative energy, that's definitely a tough time table to figure out.

Nuclear and solar will be huge in the future, but it's impossible to tell which firms will survive and prosper and which will be bankrupt. Same can be said about smaller petroleum drillers.

I devoted a lot of time in researching into energy and I consider every aspect of the sector to be dead money for the foreseeable future. Hold off on any and all long-term investments in energy.

Yeah the big boys like XOM will be around, but it's hard to tell how much market share they may lose and they may not be a good long term investment.

You need actual cash to trade on margin.

Imo it's not worth trading on margin, since you either have cash sitting around not being productive or you have to sell stock when it's not ready to be sold when the margin call comes.

You can short with puts. Unless you have a million or so to play around with, I don't think margin trading is worth the risks.

Anyone thinking of jumping in on PETX?

Rode it from $5 to a little over $8 some time back. It dipped hard today (17% down) on news of a delay for the rollout of a drug it already has an approval for. I can see it gapping back up once the panic wears out since it's a company with several actual products.

Not long-term, shit no. It's crazily overvalued right now and the CEO thinks we're living in the Matrix.

Major automotive companies will create tremendous competition with them in the near-future. They'll be reduced to a status-brand company selling specialized toys for the rich, like they always have been, when their stock is priced like they're the only company in the world that can make electric cars and petroleum products will be illegal in 10 years.

They're not worthless, but other companies will aggressively take their place soon.

Every merger is different. It can be any of those things. Almost always it's a good deal for a retail investor. Even if it was a hostile take-over with all kinds of crazy shorting and snapping up shares on the market you'd win if you play your cards right.

Typically though the offer is a huge block trade at a price above current market value. Which can be shitty if you are a long-term bag-holder from back when, when your 3$ stock is offered for 5$ and you bought it all back when it was 20$.

Shareholders vote, but all the major shareholders are like fuckign hedge funds and pension fund managers for municipalities and they'll all just want to sell asap, especially if the company kinda sucks like PIP does.

So I frequent /sci/ a lot, and I've just found this thread general on /biz/. I am new to Robinhood, but I have $1000 to utilize as capital.

Any tips on what looks good? Ryzen is coming out soon, and I was looking into buy one due to everyone in the PC gaming community stating that they'll probably beat Intel out on price per performance.

I know Warren Buffett states to only invest in what you know and to look into buying stock of companies which create things you see people buying or will be buying.

Does /biz/ think it's too late to invest some coinage into AMD? I know someone is going to tell me that "RYZEN HYPE HAS ALREADY BEEN VALUED INTO THE STOCK'S PRICE!!"
