People need to stop using bitmex, they look at everyones positions then pump or dump BTC to liquidate them. Then if things get out of control they shut down the exchange and make users absorb all the losses rather than using the insurance fund, they wont let users profit by longing into the majority of the liquidations. Even 1x leverage long is risky on bitmex right now.

You’ll never get obliterated the anon. Shorts Re basically:

I have 10k link. I think it’s gonna plummet, so I borrow 10k link using my 10k link as collateral.

I sell this link at 3 usd. Link drops to 2 usd. Ire us the link. I then give the link back to the lender + their interest, and keep. The remainder of the profit.

Crypto is fucked because people margin way beyond reasonable e.g x 10. So borrowing 100k link against 10k. That, plus whale barts, ruin a lot of people.

Well yes if you sell 10k borrowed link at 3 usd. If it goes up to 4, you can only buy 7.5k link, so in order to repay the debt, you now pay back those 7.5 link + 2.5 k of your own.

Result being you now have 7.5k link. Longing is the opposite.

Now in degenerate retarded cryptoboiz, they borrow 100 k link against their 10k. If they sell at 3 usd, their whole account will be used to pay back the debt.

So you can now imagine people who were retardely over leveraged long, and then Thursday happened. Absolutely dust.

>Crypto is fucked because people margin way beyond reasonable e.g x 10. So borrowing 100k link against 10k. That, plus whale barts, ruin a lot of people.

So if you borrow 10k at 1x leverage, and get liquidated, how much do you lose? Does it depend on the price at which you were liquidated?

And if you borrowed 100k (10x leverage) how much you lose then, just 10x as much?

Do you pay anything at the time of opening the short, or do you only pay after you're liquidated?

I wish there was like a leverage trading 101 guide for third graders with examples and shit

"Winning" a short is easy enough to understand. Borrow it, sell it high, rebuy it lower and give it back and keep the difference. But what exactly happens when you get liquidated and how does leverage affect that? Is there a limit to how much leverage you can use? I read about people using 100x leverage and getting liquidated and I think they must be financially ruined somehow.
