When you 'buy the dip', you're just bailing out Jews from their bankrupt positions. We haven't even scratched the top of recessionary valuation. We've just cut through (most of) the inflationary fat that has built up all these years.

You think the people who bought in October 2008 were happy to have 'bought the dip' when their positions depreciated 50% by March? Over many, many years perhaps.

But the big money lies in riding this slut to the bottom with puts. A 200% return over a decade is nothing compared to what you can get now just by shorting.

I made a thread, but I feel like I'm not gonna get any replies to it due to how fucking fast this board is and the amount of shitposting, so I'm gonna copypaste and repost here

So a few days ago I started trying to figure out how exactly my retirement plan works and I realized it was based on the stock market. I ended up gaining an interest in the actual market and I feel like I'm grasping concepts really well, and I've decided I want to start building up passive income through dividends in the long term. Is this actually worth it though or will I never actually make enough money through it to warrant it? Also is it better just to invest in high dividend etfs or to do my own handpicked portfolio? I feel like the answer I'm gonna get will be etfs but for some reason I really wanna go the hand picked route for whatever inexplicable reason. Also I do understand now should be a great time to buy individual stocks if I do go that route, but currently I have only $100 at my disposal (which is laughable). What do?

Then Typhoons devastating Japan, Australia's fires reigniting, India hit by tsunamis, China imploding from martial law, and Putin dying causing a Russian civil war. On one hand futures are down, international markets are in freefall, nobody wants to gamble on whatever bullshit might happen over the weekend, and we have barely even begun to experience the effect of the pandemic.
On the other hand, we've already had a 25% drop and there's no fucking way this administration won't try something that might prop up the prices for a bit.

So from what I understand about options, what makes them different from stocks is that they should be bought and sold primarily based on demand, and not price.
The demand is characterized by the IV, which maximizes prior to an earnings call or similar event, and minimizes afterwards.

Therefore, the best time to sell an option is when IV, or demand, is at its highest just prior to an earnings call.

Did I get it right?

For example, you might lock in a 15% gain on SQQQ by purchasing enough TQQQ to roughly line up the differential, essentially locking in a spread. Only going to work for overnight due to decay but it saves a lot of street when on these days you wonder what you'll wake up to. I've been liking to hedge 50% against what is profitable, not complete coverage but enough to take the sting out if the trade moves against you at 4:00AM

Guys I'm trying to do an acats transfer from vanguard to interactive brokers. I foolishly thought this would be easier than moving the cash myself.

Now it says acknowledged on IB, but Vanguard won't let me trade anything. So I'm stuck and can't trade. How long does this take? I just had all the cash in a settlement fund in vanguard.

>When a person facing the end of life “rallies,” they become more stable and may want to talk or even begin eating and drinking again. ... This change in behavior goes against everything families learn about the physical signs that the end of life is near. We grasp at what seems to be a turnaround in our loved one’s health and sigh with relief. It appears as if they are going to hang on for a while, right?

>Sadly, rallying is usually a sign that death is near. I have known many hospice aides, nurses and doctors who have seen their patients rally shortly before dying. A rally can last for a few moments or even days. Short or long, these temporary “improvements” can have a profound effect on loved ones keeping vigil.

Very broad strokes, I've talked about being spooked but upcoming earnings season and I stand by that. Market may very well rally in to the beginning of April, I don't know and it depends on the news about Corona and oil. However, when earnings reports start coming out detailing exactly how hard companies were hit due to Corona related drops in production, demand, trade delays, consumer services (like travel, hospitality, entertainment), and retail, the market is going to decide whether these losses have been adequately priced in by the drops to that point. Company's nav about swing back to recovery for the remainder of the year and in to next is also very important. Likely there will be companies that did weather the storm from Corona pretty well but they can easily say they expect ongoing issues related to it in medium term. Earnings beat with nav coming in below expectations is a classic fuck you to investors.

It's out of their hands for the most part at this point. Also, I don't think the fed is the only one manipulating the market. Remember, this whole bubble was pricked BY A MAN-MADE VIRUS that was delivered at just the right time, and against particular enemies (old conservatives, and China - two groups that another group wishes to dominate and extract wealth from). As it stands...watch Trump's video from yesterday. Notice his voice? He has it, or has something. We'll know more if we don't see him for the next few weeks..or if we can catch a deep-fake of him.

It's also giving money to retirees, fyi. BTW, I banked on this the last few days in the US bond market, but BONDS (both corporate and US govt.) WERE DROPPING IN PRICE. LMAO.. I'm still not sure why.

I'm holding my bear positions. I honestly don't see how they can turn this recession around, and I dont' even know why they would try, or if they are trying. I think the best they can do is try to soften the speed of the fall.

I fully expect all stores but food to be closing toward end of next week and into the following. As of 2 days ago, we were 2 weeks behind Italy (first 1k cases).
