Just bought a Ledger Nano X
I don't know why I should trust it. Wouldn't a paper wallet be just as secure?
It looks fancy. Doesn't this technology shit go obsolete within a few years?

one is convenient and one isn't.

Why didn't you ask these questions before buying it?

I've derived the private key from my mnemonic words before, this makes it so you never "know" your private key even though it can be derived. So you run less risk by not ever pasting it and you manually confirm transactions. That's about it.

It generates the tx offline too which is cool
Does this have CKB support?
If so I'll get it

the problem is that a paper wallet is very dangerous to access. if your computer had a keylogger, then inputting your pkey every time you need to access your funds would certainly cause you to lose all your funds. you literally cant get hacked using a trezor/ledger; the only way you can lose your coins is if you are robbed at gunpoint

the ledger x has wifi implementation, so it looks like less secure than the nano s to me

no, it would be more secure
paper wallet, airgapped laptop, offline tx signing
Also you should generate your own wallet using dice, not some shady website/software

You should use it for a wallets that you frequently use
large amounts you hodl would be better on a paper wallet or metal wallet acctually

I have both S and X.
On Ledger S I keep my linkies, it is in a safe place.
On Ledger X I keep shitcoins I trade, I have it in my pocket/pc bag everyday.

They're the way to go, it keeps your heart rate low when you see "MAINTENANCE, ALL TRADES ARE PAUSED"

Seriously, everyone keeps saying "not your keys not your coins" since literally a decade, and not to trust online wallets/exchanges with large amts of crypto. But now you think you're smart because you're trusting some company making USB sticks with all your crypto?

>you have not vetted their supply chain
>you have not personally read all of the code
>you don't know that the code they have on github is the same as what's on the device
>even experts might not notice a subtle vuln in the rng or whatever
I don't understand why you would make your attack surface so much larger and more complicated to assess, when it could be very simple.
