I’ve never invested before but these are certainly going to bounce up given how low they are now. Isn’t this a surefire way to cash out?

This is originally a black swan event but the longer everything goes on the more likely this leads to an actual depression. Fed already cut rates last week so they can't use the rate cannon for awhile. Oil is cheap right now but can easily just moon if they all build up a cartel again. If people start dropping dead the economy grinds to a halt out of fear.

On the plus side is after everyone is either immune to Corona-chan, a vaccine is developed, both strands mutate and becomes asymptomatic the economy is going to boom due to higher wages, millennials finally getting inheritance, many dead boomers and old ppl that now we don't need to pay social security for (and can finally grandfather it out or abolish it) and technological innovations.

So just make sure you don't die from it.

This is literally a dream scenario but corona won't kill that many people. It's overrated af. The quarantines are hurting more than the disease rn and oil is hurting everything worse than both combined.

Okay I’m a retard but can you explain how the stock market plummeting if gas is cheaper now? Shouldn’t this result in people spending more money and upholding the market?

Equilibrium has moved that demand of oil is too low to warrent a price above $40/barrel. Both are going down because fear is too high. (Side note if you intend or want to travel somewhere you better schedule your flights and rooms in a week or two)
Cheap gas would be a good thing, actually even a great thing..... as long as oil companies are still holding together. If they are losing too much money and having to take out debt eventually some of them will go under and have to default this tightening up the supply very rapidly as those oild fields are stuck in legal limbo on how assets are dissolved in the shit down of a company.
We could also end up with Sanders Joe i-have-dementia Biden as president and both would do some sort of fuckery to the oil supply like banning fracking wthich is why the last recession lasted so long.
