>been in job for 4 months
>manager held a meeting with me on Friday
>said that my work has been great but she's worried that I'm not "building relationships" with people at work and not "engaging" with people and one of the qualities that the companies needs from its employees is that they be "authentic"
>she said that some other employees from other teams said to her that they were worried I wouldn't deliver on stuff when they were talking to me
>she says that even though she has confidence in me, and she told them that, they were unsure (I'm an ugly autist)
>she says I need to look up a"ctive listening" techniques and do those
>she says I need to talk socially with my immediate co-workers and ask them how they're doing

She implied one of the employees who was worried about me doing badly was this senior employee who is the most stereotypical fucking boomer you've ever seen.

It's all so tiresome. I work hard but these fuckers want your soul. Normies are disgusting creatures who demand everyone else is a fucking phony.

And my performance review is based on not just whether I meet goals, but "how" I do them.

Why do normies do this? Why do they demand I act like a psychopath? I'm an ugly autist. I think they hate to see someone like me realise that the only way for me to succeed in the social hierarchy is not to compete in it, and they really resent it.

Just ignore them and keep on trucking. If they decide to fire you because they value the ability to "build relationships" rather than do the job they hired you to do then you'll be better for it because staying true to who you are is a lot easier and less stressful than looking over your shoulder every minute trying to please others for validation. The next job will be better. It always is.
