When you can't buy food. AKA nothing to do with the coronavirus.

When chain supplies gets affected, I don't think stocking food 4 corona is as useful as stocking medical supplies and hygiene products desu, it seems that corona will last at least a whole year

Why stock pile food when you can stock pile ammo? Two bullets will get you an entire family's stockpile of food.

When there's a natural disaster. Other than that stockpiling doesn't serve much purpose.

Fun hobby maybe. But not really needed.

it's useful if you buy things you would have bought anyway and dont become trash until being used.

>In what scenario is it useful?
In a technical sense it is always useful. I always have lots of food on hand because I live in a remote area, but you also benefit from fewer grocery trips, everything is cheaper in bulk, and food prices only ever go up (especially in Canada) so you could beat years of inflation on non-perishables.

I also grew up in a house with barren shelves so I absolutely refuse to face starvation again. You can buy a year's worth of sundries for less than $1000

>> No.17629357

i would like to stockpile (when i get my own place) just to have the option of not leaving the house for however long i prepare for

if you live in a populated area, 2 weeks and a bug out bag is enough. If after 2 weeks shit is still in chaos, the probability that you will die if you stay in one area exponentially increases.
