It's literally impossible to get hired anywhere unless you have a STEM degree. I have a B.S. in business administration, NOBODY wants to hire me.

But if you have a degree in CS, programming, etc, you get hired instantly.

What the fuck am I supposed to do to get a job? I'm desperate. I will lie on my resume at this point.

I can't speak for every branch, but for Army this is certainly not true. I was in for 8 years, and my dad was a recruiter for over 15 years, so I know a lot about this subject.

Here's how it works. The only thing you need for a commission is a bachelor's degree. It doesn't matter what kind. You still have to go to Officer Candidate School when you join, but your degree doesn't matter at all. Most officers have degrees in business. I knew one in basic with a degree in philosophy. You can have the most useless, pointless degree in divine basketweaving for all they care. DEGREE=SMART to the Army.

Now, for your job itself, your degree also doesn't matter except for direct commission things like legal and medical professions. The only thing that matters when choosing your job is your ASVAB score, and what the army has available that day. With officers they generally can't fill positions fast enough because the military can't retain people for shit.

However most people really end up going to college for the young, wild, and free experience, get wasted every other weekend, fuck everything that moves in the dorms, and then barely get their shit together in time to graduate with a decent GPA and 80k in debts.
Basically the only people who really succeed with college are those already focused on their goals, that isn't to say you can't have fun, but there's a level of self-awareness needed there to make anything out of it.
