This has a simple but complicated answer, birth rate being 1st part, with a low birthrate things like houses will fall in price, this is really bad for an economy that needs new money constantly injected into the system (mortgages are the bread & butter). Additionally, The Chicago school of economics theories made corporations avoid paying tax as they are only supposed to provide profit for the shareholders. The taxed need to come from others, i.e immigrants as the birth rate was falling. This is where it gets complex & /biz/ is uninitiated.
