17484034 No.17484034 [Reply] [Original]

A recession going into November will absolutely be a huge asset for Sanders, that's why Trump is working overtime to pretend coronavirus doesn't exist. Remember, Obama was only a modest favorite over McCain until the Lehman Brothers collapse, after which he became the overwhelming favorite.

Obama was doing poorly in polls in Florida before the 2008 election against McCain (Obama was also never popular in Florida with Florida Dems, Hillary won the Florida primary by 13 points). Then the recession hit hard a couple of months before the election (real estate is huge in Florida and the bust hurt a lot of people). Obama started doing better in polls after that and won the state.

we could very well have a repeat of that by November.

Except it won't. QE created lots of virtual money for big investors who never spent it or used it to give anyone a raise, hence low inflation.

It won't impact the economy at large in the same way, 2008 was so bad because a house is the biggest investment most people have.

This is a manufactured overblown crisis which will end in a moderate correction and lots of profit for institution who re-buy at the right time.
