yeah im looking into it onine but there doesnt seem to be a lot of sources for legit science behind crypto trading. its mostly people shilling for a crypto because its good in shit countries with hyperinflation or whatever. but actual speculative investment info doesnt seem to be around. i try to apply basic stock market knowledge like trendlines to crypto but im always fucking wrong every time i buy thinking its going to bump up because of a trend it drops

Are you trying to day/swing trade? If not; just buy and don't worry about price fluctuation.
If you're planning on trading you'll need to study to spot trends and shit like that, but with crypto a whale can dump or pump and throw that TA shit out the window, at least, for the short term.

thank you for this graph, i have read about the halving but didnt see the macro info on this chart. it seems like the percent gains for bull markets get smaller after each halving though. ~18,000% before the first one, ~9,000% the after the first one, ~3,000% after the second one, so what would that give us? maybe like 750 - 1,000% for the third one? so maybe estimated value of $75,000-$100,000 per BTC a year or so after this upcoming halving? is that realistic though? i mean at some point wont BTC lose value after it loses utility to more useful coins like ETH? i mean right now it seems to be mostly valued because of speculation. will people continue to speculate on BTC in 2-3 years when there is ETH network, Link, monero etc. things that offer utility like fast point of sale payments or actual anonymity

BTC has functional utility though, you are mistaken. It is the most reliable protocol in existence, 99.98% uptime since its inception. Want to transact large value on the most secure chain? You use BTC no questions asked. Did you see a few months back when an entity transferred $1 billion in BTC and had the transaction verified in minutes for only $700 in fees. BTC is the ultimate SoV chain at the moment due to its security attributes. Could this change? Yes. Have I seen anything close that comes to jeopardizing the BTC chains security? Not even close

>> No.17393326

Chart is outdated already, but still holds true. Look at the X axis. Also, as others have stated, it’s somewhat irrelevant if you’re buying at 10k or 8k so long as history repeats and the next cycle tops out $100k+. Unless you’re investing large sums ($50k+), these entry prices are meaningless.

>> No.17393335

>>17393294
Shitcoins like BCH are just forks of BTC, look up what a fork is and recognize the implications associated with it. The large transaction likely came from a massive exchange cold wallet, maybe Bitmex moving a cold wallet

>> No.17393853

>>17393742
You could argue that every shitcoin introduced into the market “eats away” at BTCs market cap but the sheer reality is that we will never see the 2017 alt bull run again. Specifically, we will never have another market where all coins “rise with the tide”. Banks and institutions are starting to get on boarded, the market has matured, and its becoming apparent that only coins with functional utility with meaningful network effects will survive. That fun cation always utility can come in a variety of methods. For the most part, the 99% of this alt market that is still bleeding will continue to bleed and eventually die. Ultimately, this is good, as the market would be continuing to mature. Invest in clear industry leaders with strong communities, grand yet focused vision, and exemplify a sense of patience. Nothing will kill significant gains in a bull run than liquidating half your position to “take profits” after a 250% move. Good luck anon
