I’ve bought a lot of collectible gold and silver bullion products for good prices a while ago and haven’t sold any of it, but the price if you look around jumped up more than just the price of spot. But I’d say most of the stuff out there has way too high of premiums. Try to get stuff with low mintage, close to spot, numismatic value, gobernment issued special editions, cool design stuff, etc. That is if you want to go that route. I look at it like killing two birds with one stone, I’m still stacking bullion which has its own value, then there’s the collectibility aspect of it and rarity that demands a premium because the design is more desirable than your typical boring bullion product. I don’t buy graded shit, and beware of things that come with extra shit like boxes and display junk. Shop for deals and never make an emotional decision.

>> No.17377989

>>17377925
I mean the broader numismatic market not just precious metals.

I have a 1oz silver Mothman coin and I'm getting the 2oz silver grand canyon coin. Aside from that I'll probably just getting stuff as close to spot as I can. I'd like some libertads (might just buy these in the future since they're only an extra like $1 over silver eagles) and a 1oz Krugerrand eventually though.

I used to be into coin/currency collecting when I was a kid and I was thinking of trying to get back into it as an investment hobby I could maybe make a little extra money in.

Gold will touch 2k this year. Every 8-10 years the market crashes or at least has a nice correction we are long overdue. The last peak for gold was 7 years ago ie we are in correction soon. Corona virus is the black swan to truly slow the economy. China will print and pump their markets up with yuan and US will follow suit. This will keep the market artificially inflated until next earnings report. This is were it gets interesting. Companies in the US have to report what is actually going on. Their actual numbers. Everything will be down across the board. Manufacturing in China is at a halt along with exporting. Travel sector is at a halt (Chinese are big and best tourist spenders) Many ecommerce and drop shipping and parts suppliers are already feeling it. Therefore, paper money and equities will have to take a hit. Therefore BTC and PM's will rally. Furthermore, China was already having problems. Couple this with an upcoming election, problems in Europe, problems in Africa, and political unrest in S. America we straight up have a financial crisis on our hands in 3 to 6 months guaranteed. Seriously. Furthermore, if Corona virus takes hold in South Korea and Japan that means not only chink shit tech is behind but also premier tech is behind, as Samsung, LG, SK HYNIX, HYUNDAI, KIA all require parts and some manufacturing in China. Same goes to a certain extend to Japan. The fact that videos escaping China have dried up tells me the clamps are down even harder. Seriously not trying to shill anything but BTC ETH GLD SLV, for stocks if you want a nice play GLDLF. The tech sector is already dumping expect it to get worse on Monday, the markets are starting to get numbers and they are not good.

I know what you’re saying, a perfect example of what I was getting at would be the reverse proof gold libertads. They made only like a thousand 1oz and a thousand 1/2oz. Fucking stellar design IMO, premiums were like $200 a coin, but that premium would stay put because the design is killer, and if I would have pulled the trigger a while back, (wish I did), when the half oz was only $750, I would have made $200 easily within a couple months. Plus you’re still getting sexy ass 24k bullion coin for your stack. Hopefully the price dips and I can pick some up.

And I love the 2020 panda design and already picked up a 30g with two more 8g’s on the way. I think the premiums on this year’s pandas will only rise with time because it’s probably the best design they’ve ever minted IMHO, plus “Muh Coronavirus”. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up some while they’re available.

Then why is platinum dragging so much in comparison? I know it doesnt have quite the same number of industrial uses, but in many cases it is a good substitute for palladium. You have to mine platinum to get palladium in the first place. Although pall is far more rare. Figured there would be more movement in platinum by now

Note for all my /pmg/ frens: gold and silver are cheap because i am poor and still able to buy. a poor wagie can save $160 per month easily and get 1/10 oz gold. think about that. $160 is also enough to pick up like 8 oz. of silver.

what i find funny about btc and ltc is that they had to market themselves as digital gold and digital silver, to really get traction. any time normalfags try to talk about btc they will inevitably refer to it like digital gold. even btcash and bsv still retain the gold-coloration. problem with using btc to buy gold is, the process is still not very smooth. i tried doing it on jmbullion but couldn't figure it out. maybe i'm just stupid

the thing with PMs is that your broker is going to fuck you coming and going.
a 3% up charge buying, and 10% undercut selling. You better see market gains that take that into account.
Anytime you go to sell your coins, the broker is going to figure that you're under pressure to sell, and low ball the fuck out of you.
and the thing is, you probably will be under pressure and you'll take the low ball offer.

literally buy PM ETFs if you want to be exposed to the market.
