Yeah it's retarded how this would reward people who are retarded with their money, not saving or paying off their debt and living it up traveling/spending on luxury goods instead, or who got useless degrees that wouldn't make them employable.

berniebros meme that it's the same as "the people that beat cancer are complaining that a cure for cancer would make people's lives easier" which is a retard tier comparison because it's a problem of who's responsible for the consequences of your actions, if someone makes a poor decision they should face consequences for that, in this case paying off their debt for an overpriced education.
Now if everyone pays to wipe out the debt, you're placing the consequences on everyone that made the good decision of paying off their debt, and removing consequences from the people that made poor decisions.
There needs to be consequences for poor decisions or making the right decision won't matter, if it continues long enough everyone will eventually learn to only make the poor decisions, and everyone will get fucked by the consequences.

Speaking of poor decisions, if one of these socialist actually gets elected is there anything stopping you from taking out a few hundred thousand in student loans so everyone can pay it off and you can pocket the money?
