Not really. Depending on what it is you have to put chemicals on it to keep the weeds/bugs from destroying it, which costs money. Then you have to harvest it which also costs money. Lastly you have to hope that this years crop brings in enough cash to cover your expenses plus extra so you can plan ahead. Which depending on the market you may end up making a lot or not that much. I know farmers who plowed over all there crops cause the market prices they'd gotten for the crops wouldn't cover the expenses incurred if they'd harvested them.
