lesson 1:
learn to balance your portfolio with high stack in low risk investments & small stacks in high risks investments.

>> No.17321432

Fuck man, it's hard to say but here are the basics.

Unironically read the flowchart on /r/personalfinance

First, pay off all debts. Then do your own research. If you feel overwhelmed then you could reach out to a wealth management company.

Definitely put some money into a high interest savings account so that you can have liquid cash available. Get one that's over 1.5% APY. Put enough for at least 3 months expenses.

Do you own your own house or apartment? If not, look into getting a duplex or small house that you could live in and rent out rooms of.

After all of that, look into ETFs or stocks. You could also buy real estate to rent out as well. I wouldn't put more than 10% in crypto personally.

It's gonna take a few years to double and you could take out a living wage each year from it and still be in profit
Just put it in vanguard and never work again

>> No.17321622

Putting it mostly into a (Vanguard) ETF is an incredibly easy choice and also the safest possible investment, since funds invest in thousands of companies spanning the world (sometimes) which means no particular company failing and no particular economic crisis is going to destroy an ETF.
Any losses due to bad economic conditions are just temporary, ignore and wait for economic recovery.

You're gonna make possibly 7-10% at year, optimistically more than that.
You can take out less than that each year to live for yourself and you'll never have to work again a day of your life as long as you're not spending more than you earn each year, and every year the money you get is gonna increase because your total capital increases.

Let's say you take out 5% each year (25k$) and it keeps growing by 10%, in 5 years you'll have 638k$ in your ETFs without having put any effort into it, and you'll have spent 130k$+ for yourself (5%/year).
Now your yearly "salary" of 5% is 32k$ already, up from 25k$ and it will keep increasing throughout your life, indefinitely.
Just spend less when there's an economic downturn.

I have no debt. Already 100k in bank and 180k in crypto. Don't own a house though and not sure if I want to cuz I like the idea of muh freedom. Maybe if I settle with a girl and have kids or something
>>17321622
Vanguard seems great. I thought profit were shit but looking at the last 10 years it's pure profit except for one year with 5% loss. That would indeed net me enough that I'd never have to work ever. Will dig into it, thx senpai

Not bad. Well you could do a duplex and rent out the other half. That way you're making a profit while you're there. Paying rent is a waste, but it's okay to do it temporarily while you figure things out.
