Idk why waiters feel entitled to tips. The customers on the other hand should feel entitled to a good service since that insures the customers come back. If the customer wants to tip then they can. Plus I know the restaurant makes enough income to pay them a "fair" wage.

they are supposed to share tips with back of the house. its calculated from the total of the bill so sometimes waiters lose money during a shift.

Then you get greedy managers that skim off the cash tips before they hand them to the cooks and dishwashers.

I don't know why waiting staff complain about not getting tips, they commit tax evasion all the time that is the real crime.

well, maybe if those who bring those plates got paid at least the minimum wage like in every normal country in the world
this way it is a hidden cost, which should be illegal IMHO, as there is no option not to get served, hence you don't get to chose anything extra yet you are expected to pay extra. Retarded system which only the yanks could see as OK to live in.

>20% for bringing over a plate

Exactly this. That's the whole joke of being """"served""""", it doesn't involve that much.

>Take order
yeah I could have just done like like at Mcdonalds they take it at the register. Or better yet I put it into an automated order system and can customize it how I like, there's no mistakes because I directly input it into a computer.

>bring drink
Once again I can just get it from the fountain. and guess what, it's even more efficient because I can just get a refill when I fucking need it. That way you don't have to bring me two glasses, or ask if I want more if I don't, or me waiting for more when you're taking too fucking long. Fountain works for me

>Food
Same thing. Most of the time it's one fucking plate. You literally just moved the plate of food 30 feet.

>""Anything else for ya?""
No I'm not a fat fuck who gets dessert. I'll just have the "check" which once again it just makes more sense to fucking pay first. I'm going to have to wait for the check or you to transport the check back and forth from the table. More delays. Annoying.

>OH AND ALSO I WANT 20% MORE MONEY ON TOP OF THE OVERPRICED FOOD

>> No.17298921

>Double it!

>> No.17299004

In Germany for example people tip completely out of grace, there's no real "tipping culture". I'm not joking, they're grateful even for like 2 euros on a 30 euro meal. And most waiters don't even care or react when you look young and don't tip, nobody expects poor college students to tip something insane like 20% on a meal they can barely afford anyways. Mostly only boomers tip to show off unironically.

>> No.17299028

I tip 10%, they get paid what they asked for in the interview and bother employee and employer agreed upon it. If the food is bad I'm likely to tip a bit less even though the wait staff have nothing to do with the food quality. If the food is good and service is good I might go up to 15%. 20% is reserved for stellar food and stellar service. Like when they give me a "southern pour" and saying it's because they like my accent or give some nice suggestions on what to do in the area, or just generally jive with my personality during the small talk phase. Dining out is anywhere from $80-150 though, so it's downright greedy to expect a $30 tip for just one of their 5 tables that hour.

>> No.17299040

>>17298548
>I have to tip the person who brings me the food.
>I don't get to tip the cook who has to actually do the work and cook multiple meals
I never tip waiters. I never go to the same place more than 5 times a month that way to don't recognize me.

>> No.17299074

Is anybody in the "industry" here? What is the minimum tip I can pay without having my food spit in next time I show up? I'm in Canada btw, we're the same thing as the U.S, many restaurants expect like a 20% tip which i find ridiculous.

Apply to a pizza place that is in a more downtown business area and ask for daytime hours. You barely break even doing residential pizza delivery when you factor gas and maintenance. However, delivering to a business break room you have people paying and tipping with their company cards. They don't give a fuck, $25+ tips are common place. Factor in gas and maintence, you're making at least $30 an hour, probably more.

Burgers have no/ very low value added taxes. That’s basically what this is. In Europe our governments distribute the gibs to poorfags, in the US the restaurants do some of it. And even after tips American wageslaves make little money compared to the wealthy European countries. In my country you make $18/ hour + 5 weeks paid vacation + pension for being a wagie at McDonald’s.
That being said, American “food” and service are usually pretty shitty unless you’re eating at a very expensive place.

As a burger going to a place like Asia is amazing. First, the employees actually do a good job and take pride in their work because they don't feel entitled to some high paying job. Second, they don't expect tips at all, they get confused sometimes if you tip for pizza. They are so grateful for tips and actually makes you want to tip them like 10-15%

I only tip delivery drivers because they operate on a loss and male waiters because I trust them to build a future with their tip money more than these retarded roasties.

tipping is bad because you don't tip bus drivers or people cleaning the toilet.

if the employer pays too little that's a problem to take up with the employer and not the customer.

grateful tipping isn't a thing in my country.

The coffee shop by my apartment uses those iPad card readers that prompts you to tip with multiple optional percentages. They set the lowest default option to 22% so I just decided to stop going there.
