In Germany for example people tip completely out of grace, there's no real "tipping culture". I'm not joking, they're grateful even for like 2 euros on a 30 euro meal. And most waiters don't even care or react when you look young and don't tip, nobody expects poor college students to tip something insane like 20% on a meal they can barely afford anyways. Mostly only boomers tip to show off unironically.

I tip 10%, they get paid what they asked for in the interview and bother employee and employer agreed upon it. If the food is bad I'm likely to tip a bit less even though the wait staff have nothing to do with the food quality. If the food is good and service is good I might go up to 15%. 20% is reserved for stellar food and stellar service. Like when they give me a "southern pour" and saying it's because they like my accent or give some nice suggestions on what to do in the area, or just generally jive with my personality during the small talk phase. Dining out is anywhere from $80-150 though, so it's downright greedy to expect a $30 tip for just one of their 5 tables that hour.

Apply to a pizza place that is in a more downtown business area and ask for daytime hours. You barely break even doing residential pizza delivery when you factor gas and maintenance. However, delivering to a business break room you have people paying and tipping with their company cards. They don't give a fuck, $25+ tips are common place. As a burger going to a place like Asia is amazing. First, the employees actually do a good job and take pride in their work because they don't feel entitled to some high paying job. Second, they don't expect tips at all, they get confused sometimes if you tip for pizza. They are so grateful for tips and actually makes you want to tip them like 10-15%
