I mean if you don't have other income sources pipelined that might be why. I'm likely leaving my current job or doing it PT and I couldn't give 2 rips. My bottom line is more important than some employers feelings so whoopty do not my problem. Something to consider is just "leaving options open for the future", in case you want to go back.

Some employers will also put a guilt complex on employees for not acting like serfs or slaves. They like to push the lines because it could mean more profits for them. It's not all but definitely some.
