Oil companies and car companies are going to go bankrupt in the next 5-10 years thanks to this man.

That's if people decide to switch. There needs to be mass production of not only cars and batteries, but also charging stations. You got to look at the available amount of nickel, aluminum, and cobalt and if everyone switched from their gas powered vehicle to a Tesla overnight (won't happen), would there be enough metals to create enough batteries. The cost of installing a Powerwall or a car battery charging station at home and switching from everything fossil fuel to electric will not be cheap.

>a entry level electric car is way too overpriced for the regular 10$/€/£ wagie
This is why it won't happen fast. Maybe in 50 years.

I get that if you invest now in electric, it will pay off down the line. It's still not cheap for the materials up front. You're talking $5,000 for a tiny house up to $200,000 for a mansion sized house.

For people to switch to electric cars, the stage has to be set first. That means gas stations closing down and replaced with charging stations. There's a good number of Tesla Superchargers now and they are growing so that's cool.

Things change. We went from walking on foot to animals to horse and carriage to trains, airplanes, and cars. Letters and newspapers to radio to TV and the internet. It really is just a matter of time before fossil fuels are faded out, but they will still have use.

The innovation can only get better with the right minds continuing to improve the tech. Batteries being more efficient, lasting longer, requiring less charging time etc.

Problem lies with the source of what powers the vehicles and that's the petroleum and crude oil industry. They've pretty much stayed the same while the parts of vehicles and methods of how the engines are made have allowed for more miles per gallon and so on. Cars have come a long way except for how they're built. The shell and bones of a car were built better back in the day, but now they use materials that don't rust on the outside so they aren't as vulnerable to deteriorating from rust and shit. Safety is neither here or there if you compare cars today to back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. There's a lot more features today included in a car. Some like backup cameras come in handy and sensoring what is around your car. There's also a lot of add-ons that we could live without.

The amount of petroleum left on the planet will be gone if we keep up the current rate at which we consume it. That's a straight fact and you can be pro-oil, but you can't deny fossil fuels are forever. What we can do is enable current motor vehicles the ability to use biofuel without manufacturing brand new cars. If Elon was even more smartminded, he would invest in Tesla hybrids that are not only powered by electricity, but biofuels that can be produced rapidly. Fuel from different plants other than ethanol from corn. Fuel from algae. Fuel from hemp. Make fuel from fruits and vegetables. Nothing wrong with burning oil, it's that us as people to never run out of the supply, we have to switch to more renewable and sustainable sources.

shows that you shutins never got you hands dirty. i helped out in at my relatives farm 2 summers and worked construction jobs. diesel is king. literally takes couple of minutes to fill up and you are fully operational. diesel has proper power, electric only has torque which is useless in these conditions. if they only get 1 minute of too much load they cant handle they burn out and you can throw the whole motor with the coils in the gutter. try putting to much load on a diesel, even in a case of something breaking its fixable without throwing away the whole unit

Hydrogen is just so superior to both, only lacking since it is so expensive, but as production efficiency increases then prices will drop

Battery tech has some hard limits, but hydrogen fuel cella can be refilled the same as a gas tank, quickly at a station.

Oil will never stop being used you brainless pieces of shit.
Your clothes are made out of plastic, your computer is made out of plastic, your straws are made out of plastic. there are natural forms of plastic but the vast majority is made out of hydrocarbons.

What is oil made out of?
the crude oil that is deep in the earth is made out of Hydrogen and carbon molecules created in chains using pressure deep in the earth. tree's for example breath Co2 and push the excess into the earth, this co2 travels underground where it is pressured into creating Crude oil.

the crude oil is taken out of the earth and refined into oil, asphalt, jet fuel and other useful products.

In a car the oil is sprayed into a piston and mixed with air. the spark plug ignites burning the fuel.
the byproduct of this is that the hydrocarbon breaks down into its base elements.
Hydrogen and carbon. the carbon fuses with the oxygen to produce soot and O2 Carbon Monoxide. and the hydrogen is burned as fuel the byproduct is water vapor. the O2 breaks down into oxygen and carbon after a short while.

By burning Oil we are actually saving the environment.
